Some of the speculation has centered around the brands under the ownership of the two automakers; Volvo (owned by Geely) and Lotus (owned by Proton). The talk has been about Lotus lending some of their expertise in handling to Volvo. It may seem crazy, but Lotus has a history of helping out automakers with suspension tuning though engineering consulting. Such models include the Isuzu Impulse, Lotus/Vauxhall Carlton, and Aston Martin DB9.
Australian outlet Drive decided to pose the question about a possible Volvo and Lotus partnership to Roger Wallgren, principal engineer of vehicle dynamics for the new XC60.
"Why not," said Wallgren.
"I don't see any problem using their knowledge.i think it is pretty applicable all over the board. You need to have a dialogue - you can exchange knowledge back an forth."
It should be noted that no specific plans have been laid out this time according to Wallgren.
But we can't help but imagine Volvo's performance arm Polestar teaming up with Lotus could produce some magnificent vehicles.
