Volkswagen has announced their sole hybrid vehicle will be no more in the 2017 model year. This news comes to us from Automotive News (Subscription Required). According to a spokesman, the hybrid made up less than one percent of overall Jetta sales in the U.S.

Part of the reason for the Jetta Hybrid's poor sales came down to price. The only way you could get into one was the top-line SEL Premium at $31,940. Keep in mind the base Jetta starts at $18,500. Another part to the Jetta Hybrid's cancellation is the weak demand for hybrid and electric vehicles. Low gas prices and improved economy on gas vehicles have consumers drifting towards crossovers and SUVs.
