Speaking with Bloomberg, head of Bugatti Wolfgang Duerheimer says they are possible considering doing a sedan.
“I can’t get the idea for a four-door limousine out of my head. It’s one of the options we might look into again as a possible next project,” said Duerheimer.
Bugatti has toyed with the idea of a sedan before. Back in 2009, the brand introduced the 16 C Galibier Concept. Looking like a mashup of the Veyron and Porsche Panamera, the 16 C Galibier packed a supercharged 8.0L W16 that was said to produce 800 horsepower. A combination of aluminum and carbon fiber made up the body and structure. The interior could seat up to four and was fitted with acres of leather and wood trim.
Duerheimer also mentioned that Bugatti was open to the idea of having an electric model in their lineup. It was thought that the Chiron would get electric motors, but the idea was nixed due to the additional weight. Durheimer said that doesn't mean the Chiron wouldn't come with electric motors later in its lifecycle.
It is anyone's guess if either model happens at the moment. Bugatti's parent company Volkswagen is trying to cut back on model variations on some of its mainstream brands in an effort to save money. Bugatti might be feeling the pressure of the cut backs.
One vehicle idea that isn't on the table is an SUV. When Durheimer was asked about doing a Bugatti, he said 'no'.
