But a new report from Auto Express says a new XF wagon is coming.
Wait, I thought Jaguar's chief designer said no more wagons?
So did we. But last week, Ian Callum tweeted out that he was misquoted, explaining that the company wouldn't make an XE wagon.
Speaking with Auto Express, Callum expressed that he was a fan of wagons and adding there is interest for wagons in China.
“I’ve spoken to a number of Chinese about wagons. There’s a general feeling that as the market changes and families grow, the need for a more practical car than a sedan becomes more necessary,” said Callum.
This quote strikes us as funny. As we reported in our original story, the only place where wagons seem to still sell well is in Europe. Everywhere else, including China, is gobbling up crossovers. We're not sure how many Chinese buyers will go for the wagon option where there is the crossover sitting only a few feet away.
What do we know about the next-generation XF wagon?
Auto Express says the wagon will feature a coupe-like roofline and similar rear end styling to the new F-Pace crossover. Cargo space will be slightly larger than the sedan with the rear seats up - 600 liters (about 21.2 cubic feet). Fold the rear seats and space could be as big as 1600 liters (about 56.5 cubic feet). Engine and trims will mirror the sedan and include a high-performance SVR version.
Now the XF Wagon has been reportedly signed off and could debut next year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
