The Rocky Mountain Automotive Press announced today that the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator takes the honors as the Rocky Mountain Truck of the Year. The awards were announced on what was supposed to be the opening of the Denver Auto Show, but the event has been delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
The RMAP journalists considered performance, fuel economy, value, and vehicle features to narrow down the field to four finalists in the Rocky Mountain Truck of the year. A key component of the judging is how well the vehicle handles and performs on the Rocky Mountains' varied and often rugged roads and terrain. The other finalists for 2020 were the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 and the 2019 Ram 2500.
“As the voting finished up for the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press vehicle of the year, we were thrilled to have the 2020 Jeep Gladiator come out on top," said RMAP President Craig Conover. "When it comes to an iconic name, Jeep has to be one of the top in the industry and we at RMAP definitely felt the new Gladiator was worthy of this award. We are thrilled to have it as our Truck of the Year in the Rocky Mountain region."
Exclusive 2020 Jeep Gladiator Features
The all-new Jeep Gladiator midsize pickup has had a great year. The most capable Jeep truck ever was also chosen as the 2020 North American International Auto Show Truck of the Year. Fans have waited years for Jeep to bring back a midsize pickup and the Gladiator checks all the Jeep boxes. It is great both on and off-road and can handle virtually everything that the Jeep Wrangler does. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator has great towing power for its size and includes all of the fun Jeep perks: removable doors and roof as well as hidden interior storage. The Gladiator also has several exclusive features like a removable, wireless speaker and a front facing camera in the grill that allows you to see exactly what conditions you are driving into.
Promising 2020 Jeep Gladiator Sales
Despite grim news concerning auto sales that were announced today, the all-new Gladiator continues to sell well. Jeep says the Gladiator sold 15,259 vehicles in the first quarter. It was the third consecutive quarter Gladiator has surpassed the 15,000 mark.
2020 marks the fourteenth annual Rocky Mountain Vehicle of the Year awards. The goal is to recognize vehicles that are all-new or significantly revised for the 2020 model year. As a member of the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press, I had the chance to drive and compare the different vehicles.
