Ford Performance is helping 2024 Ranger Raptor owners and 2022-2024 Bronco Raptor owners boost their horsepower and torque. The software calibration will cost $825 but the upgrade is significant. The upgrade is for the 3.0-liter Ecoboost in the existing Raptor engines.
According to Ford,
Ranger Raptor: Torque jumps from 430 to 536 lb.-ft., while horsepower increases from 405 to 455
Bronco Raptor: Torque increases from 440 to 536 lb.-ft. and horsepower climbs from 418 to 455
The upgrade will also improve the throttle response and optimize shifting.
The upgrades are available for 2024 Ranger Raptor and 2022-2024 Bronco Raptors and allow for improved throttle response and an optimized shift schedule, resulting in a more powerful driving experience. The MSRP is listed at $825 and can be purchased using Ford Pass Rewards points.
Raptors Already Receiving Rave Reviews
One of my former colleagues here at Torque News has written about the Raptor versions’ accolades. In a story from March of 2024 , he quoted several automotive experts.
“We start with Dan Edmunds of Car & Driver, who points out that the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor has one big advantage over the larger F-150 Raptor—its more compact, trail-friendly size, even if it is just 0.1 inches narrower than a regular F-150. It’s also quick and capable, with a price tag much lower than its Raptor counterparts.
Edmunds continued, “The Ranger Raptor is the most trail-worthy member of the Raptor family because of its rightsized dimensions. It’s much more likely to be bought by off-road types who never gave the big Raptor a serious look,” Edmunds said. “It’s also the most affordable by a wide margin, so there’s a strong appeal on the budget front. And it’s as quick as any other Raptor, except for the F-150’s V-8-powered R model.” He finished with a plea: “Anyone want to buy a slightly used 4Runner?”
Then MotorTrend’s Jered Korfhage echoes many of these sentiments.” He noted that it is easily worthy of the Raptor name that has garnered so much respect among enthusiasts in recent years.”
Ford Offering a Break on the Upgrade’s Price
Anyone who registers their vehicle and attends Raptor Rally, an exclusive one-day event near the Ford Performance Racing School in Fairfield, Utah, on Sept. 21, will receive a 20% off coupon good for the calibration tool and other eligible accessories at performanceparts.ford.com.
Raptor Rally costs $500, which includes the vehicle, the owner, and one guest for a day of off-road drive experiences, trail rides, expert workshops, meet and greets with pro off-road racers, hot lap opportunities, Ford news, exclusive giveaways, meals, and more. Register at http://www.fordraptorrally.com .
The calibration can be purchased online (Bronco Raptor Calibration, Ranger Raptor Calibration) to be installed at a local dealer. These calibrations meet Ford durability standards and are covered by the vehicle’s three-year, 36,000-mile Ford Performance parts warranty.
It will be interesting to see how many people take advantage of the upgrade opportunity. With off-roading being the hottest automotive sector right now, I bet the added horsepower and torque will be a hot seller.
