It is a huge day for Chevrolet and Cadillac motor sports as the Corvette No. 33 C8.R team won its division at Le Mans and the #2 Chip Ganassi Racing V-Series.R Cadillac team got a place on the podium. The Chevy Garage 56 Camaro ZL1 had a good first outing, completing 285 laps before a gearbox issue caused problems.
Team Chevy released this statement on social media.
“Corvette Racing wins Le Mans! Being down 2 laps in the early hours only encouraged an absolutely heroic drive from Corvette Racing into the night and through the field to clinch victory for the No. 33 C8.R. This is Corvette Racing's ninth 24 Hours of Le Mans class win.”
Le Mans 24 Hour is a Grueling Race
The Le Mans race is designed as an endurance test, forcing the competitors to race through the night and put maximum stress on the world class engines. Corvette has won its division nine times, so it was fitting that it battled back after early problems to win in the final GTE race at Le Mans. The Hendrick Motorsports Garage 56 Chevy Camaro ZL1 features the same engine found in the NASCAR Cup series. The engine had to be tweaked to fit the Le Mans rules. Very few automakers field teams for these high-horsepower endurance tests, but Chevrolet and Cadillac have always said that what they learn on the racetrack helps them build better vehicles.
Forza’s Motorsport Video Game to Feature 2023 No. 01 Cadillac Racing V-Series.R and 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray
Forza says that when its next video game debuts, later this year, it will give gamers a realistic view of what it is like to be behind the wheel of the Cadillac V-Series.R as well as the 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray.
“All of us at Turn 10 Studios are excited for players to experience the generational leap in fidelity, immersion and realism of ‘Forza Motorsport,’ the most technically advanced and authentic racing game we’ve ever made,” said Chris Esaki, Creative Director of Forza Motorsport at Turn 10 Studios. “We’re equally proud of our relationship with General Motors and can’t wait for fans to experience the stunning 2023 No.01 Cadillac Racing V-Series.R and 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray in-game when ‘Forza Motorsport’ launches on October 10.”
Cadillac and Chevrolet teams provided renderings and information about the Cadillac V-Series.R race car and Corvette E-Ray approximately a year prior to each car’s public debut. Once the vehicles were selected for the cover, Turn 10 Studios was provided photos and audio of the development vehicles.
Cadillac and Chevrolet gave the video game company extraordinary access to real vehicle information because “Forza Motorsport” allows prospective and existing customers to experience the vehicles. GM hopes once gamers experience the ride and handling, they will decide to buy those models or another Cadillac or Chevrolet vehicle.
Cadillac V-Series
The Cadillac V-Series.R — Cadillac’s third-generation prototype race car, continues Cadillac Racing’s heritage of winning on the racetrack, including victories at Sebring and Laguna Seca this year. It was co-developed by Cadillac Racing, Cadillac Design and Dallara, and incorporates distinctive Cadillac design elements, such as vertical lighting and floating blades.
“This is a big year for Cadillac Racing and Cadillac’s V-Series performance vehicles. We’re celebrating 20 years of V-Series and are fresh off a return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the world’s greatest endurance races,” said Meagan Quinn, Cadillac V-Series marketing manager. “We’re excited for our fans to race and experience the Cadillac V-Series.R themselves, and for performance enthusiasts around the world to experience Cadillac V-Series.”
The Cadillac V-Series.R will only ever be driven by a select few of the world’s best racing drivers. Putting the race car in “Forza Motorsport” allows a truly global audience to get a taste of that experience on the very same tracks where the car competes for victories in real life.
Corvette E-Ray
The 2024 Corvette E-Ray, the quickest Corvette in history and the first Corvette to feature both electrification and all-wheel drive capability, will just be getting into the hands of U.S. customers when “Forza Motorsport” is released.
“We are excited to see the first customer impressions of Corvette E-Ray both in real life and through ‘Forza Motorsport’ being shared at the same time,” said Harlan Charles, product marketing manager, Chevrolet Corvette. “While Corvette will always be America’s sports car, ‘Forza Motorsport’ is one way we continue to elevate awareness of what Corvette offers on the world stage.”
“Forza Motorsport” showcases legendary racing and street-performance vehicles on the most renowned race circuits across the world. Cadillac and Chevrolet vehicles have been present in the Forza franchise since the original “Forza Motorsport” made its debut in 2005, with representation in every Motorsport and Horizon title since inception.
