Chevrolet Hopes to Kick-Start 2025 BrightDrop EV Sales

And just like that, Chevrolet has a new EV van. I always wondered why the auto giant made it a subsidiary, now the EVs will be branded as Chevys.

BrightDrop EVs have done surprisingly well, given that they debuted as a subsidiary of GM. Going forward GM is placing the EVs under the Chevrolet brand so the vans will get a much wider sales and distribution network. Chevrolet reaches all over the world and now the two different BrightDrop models, now called the 2025 Chevrolet BrightDrop 600 EV or 2025 Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 EV, will have a much greater reach.

“With the addition of BrightDrop to the Chevrolet lineup, we are combining advanced EV technology with the dependability and widespread accessibility that only Chevrolet can offer," said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. "This move strengthens our EV offerings and reaffirms our role as a leading commercial brand that enables businesses large and small to get work done."

2025 Chevrolet BrightDrop 600 and 400 EV Vans

BrightDrop EV vans come in two different models, the 600 is larger and the 400 is smaller. You have probably seen them around without realizing it. I have written previously about BrightDrop delivering at least 150 electric vans to FedEx. The EV vans get GM-estimated 272 miles of combined city/highway range and offered advanced features to help keep drivers safe and alert.

BrightDrop vans are built at GM’s Canadian Automotive Manufacturing Plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. It quickly sold out of its first run of vans. Then the huge moving company Ryder ordered 4000 to be delivered through 2025.

Now, adding BrightDrop's electric vans to the expanding Chevrolet EV lineup will give BrightDrop customers access to one of the industry’s largest and most extensive commercial sales and service networks.

All Chevrolet dealers will have the opportunity to sell BrightDrop vans if they meet certain commercial EV requirements. Once certified, participating Chevrolet dealerships can service BrightDrop products, helping to win over more fleet customers. More service opportunities lessen downtime and increase the time that your vans can be operating on the road.

BrightDrop Expected to Grow Quickly with Chevrolet’s Sales Help

BrightDrop was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2021. In 2023, BrightDrop joined GM Envolve, the company’s fleet business, which serves thousands of commercial and government customers.

“The 2025 Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 and 600 will continue to feature state-of-the-art technology designed to help enhance efficiency, reduce tailpipe emissions, and optimize service and delivery operations,” said Sandor Piszar, vice president, GM Envolve. “Integration into the Chevrolet portfolio will expand its reach and accessibility and offer more customers additional tools to help achieve their productivity and carbon-neutral goals.”

The vehicles will continue to be built at the CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.

“GM Canada is proud that our team at CAMI Assembly will now produce BrightDrop commercial EVs under the Chevrolet brand," said GM Canada President Kristian Aquilina. “This branding evolution is a testament to the potential GM and Chevrolet see for BrightDrop in the electric fleet market, and to CAMI’s production capabilities as Canada’s first large-scale EV manufacturer.”
