The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse has come a long way from when it first debuted back in 2007. Back then, the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Chevy Traverse were virtual triplets, built on the same platform, they differed mostly in sheet metal and different grades of interiors. Since then, the Chevrolet has gradually created its own identity and the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is definitely the best version. More truck-like, the new Traverse has more technology and is more capable off-road.
“Our new Traverse is designed and engineered to act and look more like an SUV,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “Led by the all-new Z71, the 2024 Traverse builds on the success of its predecessor and will undoubtedly enable us to be in more customer driveways.”
New 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71 Off-Road Package
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse has been totally redesigned. The Traverse now looks much more like the Chevrolet Tahoe, with similar stance and truck-like appearance. It offers four different trims: LS, LT, Z71 and RS. Chevrolet is banking heavily on the new Z71 package to draw in families that want more versatility, including off-roading.
All models are powered by an all-new 2.5L turbocharged engine. The new engine boosts both horsepower and torque. The new turbo-charged model will deliver 315 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque. The nearly 20 percent increase in torque means that the new Traverse has a max trailering rating of up to 5,000 pounds.
All-New Traverse Z71
The Z71 package revolves around off-roading, giving the new Traverse better stability, handling and ground clearance to handle tougher terrain.
Off-Road features include:
- More than 1-inch increased ground clearance coupled with increased track width for added handling and capability
- All-terrain tires bring increased capability coupled with 18-inch wheels designed exclusively for Z71
- Front fascia designed for improved approach angle
- Aluminum skid plate and signature Z71 red tow hooks
- Twin-clutch AWD system designed to optimize traction and handling in off-road driving conditions
- Specific Terrain Mode within the driver-selectable drive modes
- Hill Descent Control
- Standard trailering package
“The bold exterior of the all-new Traverse helps redefine its role and capability for customers,” said Phil Zak, executive design director, Global Chevrolet. “It is as versatile as ever, but with an increased focus on capability that reflects the spirit of its owners.”
2024 Traverse Has Redesigned Interior
The first thing you will notice about the new interior is the huge, best-in-class standard 17.7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen. It is more than twice the size of the screen in the previous model. The three-row SUV has seating for up to eight people, depending on the trim package you choose. The traverse offers wireless phone charging and six USB ports come standard. The Traverse has best-in-class cargo room of 98 cubic-feet.
Chevrolet Continues to Innovate Safety Tech
Chevrolet has pioneered a lot of safety technology and now, all Traverse trims come with an updated Buckle to Drive feature. Buckle to Drive requires the front-seat passenger, as well as the driver to be buckled before driving. All Traverses will also have Teen Driver technology. Ther is also a new feature called Rear Seat Belt Reminder, which alerts the driver if second or third row passengers have taken off their seat belt. Super Cruise, a hands-free driving technology, is also available.
Other Safety Technologies Include:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Forward Collision Alert
- Following Distance Indicator
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- IntelliBeam® High Beam Assist
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Rear Park Assist
