Costco is Offering Special Editions of 2019 Chevy Suburbans and Tahoes

Costco sells a full range of autos, covering a number of different brands like Nissan, Chevrolet, BMW and Subaru. Technically, Costco doesn’t sell the cars, they put you in touch with a dealer that will handle the transaction, but Costco offers significant discounts for the sale. They even arrange sales for used vehicles. Now they are offering an exclusive promotion for 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban Premier Plus Editions.

Costco Auto says it has a special member promotion on the 2019 Premier Plus edition Tahoe and Suburban. The warehouse discount chain says it has arranged for a special value package and only 5000 of the SUVs will be available.

Costco Special Premier Plus Package

The promotion promises that the buyer will receive GM Supplier Pricing as well as other incentives.

The Premier Plus editions are available in 2WD or 4WD and have the big 6.2L engine paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission supposedly calibrated for a luxury ride. For the first time, these Tahoes and Suburbans are equipped with 22” polished wheels, special touches usually reserved for the premium Cadillac Escalades.

These special edition vehicles also have upgraded interiors, featuring black/mahogany heated and ventilated seats.
There is also an enhanced 8-inch diagonal driver information center and Chevy’s heads up display, that puts your speed up on your windshield so that you don’t have to take your eyes off the road.

The luxury editions come at a time when Chevrolet is fiercely battling Ford in the SUV arena. The recently redesigned Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expeditions are seeing record sales, with very few discounts.

The special Costco discounts make savings available to savvy shoppers while not offering massive sales on a public scale. This doesn’t scream fire sale. It says you can have enviable luxury at a better price.

How Costco Car Buying Works

Buyers must be Costco members. You have to register for the promotion and Costco Auto will let you know when the 2019 Tahoe and Suburban are available. Once the Premier Plus edition vehicles become available, they’ll help you find a dealership in your area with the color combination and drivetrain you selected.

It is important to note that Costco Auto has a number of other special offers on other makes available at any given time. Again, Costco doesn’t sell you the vehicle, they hook you up with dealerships offering the type of vehicle you are looking for. Dealerships pay Costco to participate in the program but Costco does arrange for significant savings. There is no haggling.

I know a gentleman who bought an SUV from a different manufacturer through Costco. He loved the experience because he hates to haggle and he felt confident that Costco got him a great deal.

I find the idea of special Costco Editions interesting. It is as if they are taking their weekly “treasure hunts” to a whole new level.

Sam’s Club also has a similar auto buying program offering discounted rates on new and used cars. I have not seen any similar Special Edition promotions. You are always able to compare vehicles and their features on Consumer Reports or the NHTSA comparison site, Safercar.gov.
