It is no surprise that when Dodge agreed to build a 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat, it would be a hot seller. Everything that the SRT team touches has been in high demand. The 710-horsepower Hellcat SUV will only be built for the 2021 model year. Although Dodge says that Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat orders are full, there is still one way to land one of the 2000 vehicles.
2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat
The Durango SRT Hellcat is the most powerful production SUV ever built. It has 710 horsepower coming from a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V-8. The engine produces 645 lb.-ft. of torque. The Durango SRT Hellcat has a 0-60 miles per hour time of 3.5 seconds, a quarter-mile elapsed time of 11.5 seconds as certified by the National Hot Rod Association and a top speed of 180 mph. The Durango also has the best-in-class towing of 8,700 lbs.
Dodge has officially closed ordering for the run of 2,000 vehicles, however, you still may be able to buy a new one. Dodge is allocating a few of the high-horsepower Durango Hellcats to some of its best dealers. Dodge is not saying which dealers have been chosen to receive them or how many will go to the lucky businesses. There will still only be 2,000 built. The best way to find out is to contact your local Dodge dealer. They may be able to help you locate one in your area.
“The 2021 Durango Hellcat is only a single model-year run, ensuring that it will be a very special, sought-after performance SUV for years to come,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge Brand and Interim Chrysler Brand Chief Executive Officer - Stellantis. “Based on anticipated demand, all dealer allocations have already been reserved, but there is still some time to secure an unsold dealer order.”
The 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat starts with a MSRP of $80,995 plus a destination fee of $1,495. We all know that the price can easily go up when a vehicle is in high demand.
Professional Driving School
Because the engine is so powerful, new Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat buyers receive a full day of professional instruction at the Bondurant High Performance Driving School in Chandler, Arizona.
2021 Dodge Durango Chosen Best Large SUV Value
As I reported earlier this week, the 2021 Dodge Durango just earned an award for being the best value in the Large SUV/Crossover segment. Vincentric chose the 2021 Durango because it retains its value so well, has lower fuel costs and lower operating costs than many other large SUVs. Obviously, that may not be the case with the huge horsepower engine.
In 2020, Dodge was named the "#1 Brand in Initial Quality," making it the first domestic brand ever to rank No. 1 in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. The new 2021 Durango was crowned the SUV of Texas, as well as Full-size SUV of Texas for the sixth time by the Texas Auto Writers Association.
If you aren’t able to score one of the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcats, there are several other Durango models available that may work for your lifestyle. Besides the Hellcat, the Durango has five other models - – SXT, GT, Citadel, R/T, SRT 392. All feature best-in-class towing.
