It has been about two months since Ram unveiled its Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept at CES in January. It has been less than a month since the company released video of the Ram 1500 REV production truck during the Super Bowl. The company’s first BEV is expected to debut at the end of 2024 as a 2025 model. Reservations for the EV sold out in five days and now the company is slowly releasing more information about new truck to its hardcore enthusiasts.
Lead the Charge
In an email, Ram invites fans to “Lead the Charge” and says the truck industry is due for a revolution. It promises that the Ram 1500 REV is ready to charge forward with exceptional electric capability. Ram reiterates that the Ram 1500 REV will be built on the new STLA Frame platform. Ram and parent company, Stellantis, are still not saying where the EV will be assembled. Since the day that the EV truck was announced, Ram has said that it will “set the bar in terms of capability, range, towing and payload”.
Takes Design Cues from the Ram Revolution Concept Truck
The 2025 Ram 1500 REV takes a lot of design cues from the concept vehicle. The REV features a refreshed grille and an illuminated Ram badge, signaling the new look for the future. Like other EV trucks, the Ram 1500 REV has a lot of LED lighting that highlights the tuning fork design of the headlights.
Innovative Frunk
Because the pickup truck EVs no longer require a gasoline engine, all of the battery powered trucks use the area where the engine used to be as storage area. The word frunk is the abbreviation for the front trunk. The Ram Revolution Concept included an innovative pass-through to the cabin of the vehicle so the truck could carry really long items, but the pass through is not part of the Ram 1500 REV production vehicle. Ram says its frunk will offer easy access to onboard power. It also says the frunk will add game-changing cargo space with secure weather-proof protection.
Upgraded Interior
Ram really earned its claim-to-fame by upgrading the pickup truck interior about five years ago. It was the first truck to offer real wood and metal interior accents and upgraded leather seats at a more affordable price. Ram arguably has forced the other automakers to follow suit in recent years. Ram is promising to have a similar effect on the EV truck market. Ram says it will feature advanced technologies, luxurious refinements and superb comfort.
Charging Status
Ram says that drivers will be able to track their charging progress in two ways. It will have special lights on the charging port to indicate the charging status and projected time to completion. Drivers will also be able to check the charging status inside the cabin on the touchscreen and digital gauge. You can see the lightning bolt on the touchscreen indicating charging.
Ram also says that if your home is properly equipped, the truck can provide home energy charging if the grid is down. That feature could prove invaluable during long outages in heavy weather situations like much of the country has experienced this winter.
Future Updates
Ram is promising to provide future updates as it gets closer to launch. It will be fascinating to see if it is able to outdo its competitors in the areas of range, towing and payload as it has promised.
