Ram is credited with bringing luxury to the light duty truck market when it totally revamped its Ram 1500 pickup. It won countless awards for upgrading the typical work truck. Ram won several more awards when it gave its Heavy Duty versions similar upgrades. MotorTrend named the Ram Heavy Duty its 2020 Truck of the Year. Now, Ram is revealing a stunning new blacked-out edition of its workhorse. The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition will be available in the third quarter.
Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition
The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition starts with the Limited trim and adds black exterior accents, matte black badging and black aluminum wheels. The blacked-out appearance follows the recent luxury trend of highlighting a monochromatic look, with matching bumpers, mirrors and other exterior accents.
"Ram is committed to continuous improvement and that includes looking for ways to deliver unique models with features and durability that continue to win over more and more buyers. Offering a customized look directly from the factory allows customers even more personalization and greater usability,” said Mike Koval Jr., Head of Ram Brand. “The new Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition is another example of how we deliver the most luxurious pickups in the industry.”
2020 Ram Heavy Duty is Not Just a Pretty Face
While the truck is fabulous looking, it is still a work truck at heart. The Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition is available with the 6.4-liter HEMI V-8, 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel I-6 or 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel I-6 High Output engines. Studies show that nearly all heavy duty owners use their trucks to tow for either business or pleasure and the 2020 Ram Heavy Duty is incredibly capable. Ram Heavy Duty offers a towing capacity of 35,100 pounds and a payload capacity of 7,680 pounds.
Some of the special accents included in the 2020 Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition include blacked-out door handles, trailer tow mirrors, tow hooks and headlight surrounds. The black grille has R-A-M spelled out.
Like all of the Ram products, the COVID-19 shutdowns delayed production. The closures pushed deliveries of the Limited Black edition to the third quarter. The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition will be built at the Saltillo Truck Assembly in Saltillo, Mexico. Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $62,745.
