The 2020 Ram 1500 continues to rack up awards. It is already the most awarded truck in history and the accolades just keep coming. Now Edmunds has chosen the Ram 1500 as its 2020 Edmunds Top Rated Truck. The Edmunds Top Rated awards examine vehicles in seven different categories and recognize excellence.
Recent 2020 Ram 1500 Awards
As I have recently reported, the 2020 Ram 1500 received a Consumer Guide Best Buy Award. The 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel was named a Car and Driver 10Best winner, and the EcoDiesel was also named the 2020 Green Truck of the Year. The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty was named the MotorTrend Truck of the Year and is a finalist for North American Truck of the Year.
Edmunds does its own independent testing of vehicles that compete in the seven different categories. The winner of each category represents the best of that segment. Edmunds calls the Ram 1500 an easy winner.
“The Ram 1500 just keeps getting better and is once again our Top Rated Truck for 2020,” said Alistair Weaver, editor-in-chief, Edmunds. “We still love its technology, interior built quality, ride comfort and capability, but the new EcoDiesel variant introduced this year delivers even stronger fuel economy, more torque and improved towing capability. The Ram 1500 easily remains the most desirable pickup truck on the market.”
Ram Improves its Entire Line-Up
This is the second year in a row that the Ram 1500 has been a bigger winner in most of the major contests. The 2019 Ram 1500 was heavily praised for upgrading the interiors of the truck, giving them a more luxurious appearance and ride. Ram also made similar upgrades to its heavy-duty versions, again winning awards and praise. Ram is also making the EcoDiesel engines available over all of its trim levels.
The 2020 Ram 1500 adds the more fuel-efficient diesel engine and upgrades all aspects of owning a diesel. The ride is smoother, the acceleration is better than previous versions, the smell is gone and the engine is much less noisy and annoying. At this point, the 3.0-liter V-6 EcoDiesel leads the half-ton pickup segment in torque and towing capability. The engine is rated for 480 lb.-ft. of torque and towing capability of 12,560 pounds. Drivers who opt for the larger 33-gallon fuel tank can travel over 1,000 miles between fill-ups.
