The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is driving off with a prestigious award. Two of the most respected magazines are singling out the Jeep Grand Cherokee L as the Best Full-Size SUV in the Annual Good Housekeeping Best Family Car Competition. This award carries some serious weight because Good Housekeeping teamed up with Car and Driver to test and rate the vehicles.
Why the Jeep Grand Cherokee L Was Chosen
According to the magazine’s overview, editors chose the Jeep Grand Cherokee L for several reasons.
“With legitimate off-road credentials and a three-row interior, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is an adventure mobile with room for the whole family, which earned it an Editors' Choice award. While it will likely see more on-road duty than it will trail time, Jeep offers several capability enhancing features including an adjustable air suspension, a limited-slip rear differential, and three different versions of the brand's Quadra-Drive all-wheel-drive system. Even the most spartan models offer a comfortable and well-tailored cabin, but high-end versions bring a full luxury experience—as well as a luxury price tag. Tech plays a big role in the Grand Cherokee L, with a plethora of displays screens dotting the interior and a host of driver-assistance features offered as standard.”
“The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L truly stands out in its segment and continues to raise the bar in capability, performance and luxury, while also breaking new ground in versatility and functionality. When it comes to full-size SUVs, the Grand Cherokee sets the bar extremely high with its legendary 4x4 capability, uncompromised third-row capacity and premium amenities,” said Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “The entire Grand Cherokee lineup – including the first electrified two-row 4xe variant – has something to offer every customer, including families that may need extra space or those who enjoy a bit more adventure off the beaten path.”
The Growing Grand Cherokee Family of Vehicles
The Grand Cherokee is already the most awarded SUV ever. Now, Jeep has expanded the Grand Cherokee family to include the extended L version, as well as the electrified 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV. The plug-in hybrid has been very well-received, following in the tracks of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe.
How Good Housekeeping Rated the Vehicles
The Good Housekeeping Institute (GHI) worked with Car and Driver to test hundreds of new vehicles and to identify the top makes and models for 2022. GHI experts and editors logged thousands of miles on test tracks and roads. Vehicles were rated based on safety, value, handling, interior design, comfort and technology. They also looked at how easy it was to put in a child safety seat. Reviewers also rated features like storage and cargo space.
The Grand Cherokee L has more than 110 advanced safety and security features, plus available driver-assist systems, 360-degree surround view, drowsy driver detection and night vision cameras. One of the most popular features is the rear-seat monitoring camera system.
