When Volkswagen decided a couple of years ago to move its SportWagen from the Jetta to the Golf, the automaker believed that it was making the right move. After all, Golf was VW’s most successful family of cars, and the family contained some of the most sought-after models in its lineup, so it made the fateful decision, and it looks as if the decision was the right one.
It Is The Most Demanded Vehicle In Its Category
As if to validate the decision, the new Golf Sportwagen has been named the Best Wagon in the 2019 AutoWeb Buyer’s Choice Awards. The awards represent the most in-demand vehicle in each category, based on price quote requests submitted to AutoWeb’s network of automotive websites. AutoWeb made this award to VW this week.
“We are very proud of this win for Golf SportWagen,” Derrick Hatami, executive vice president of sales, marketing, and after sales for Volkswagen of America (VWoA). “The SportWagen offers a unique blend style, spaciousness, and Volkswagen’s hallmark fun-to-drive nature, and awards like this serve as proof that we are hitting the mark with buyers.”
Interestingly, the AutoWeb honor is different than others out there. Not based on the opinions of a panel of editors or judges, real-life market reaction forms the basis of this award program. The award results used data from more than 120 million consumers who visited the AutoWeb network of websites from July 2017 to October 2018. The data compares all of the vehicles in their competitive segments. For this year’s award, data from 17 shopping subcategories were analyzed to come up with the final awards list.
Real Consumer Market Data Used For Award
“Unlike awards comprised of editors’ top picks, the AutoWeb Buyer’s Choice Awards represent the most in-demand vehicles among millions of consumers,” Jared Rouse, president, and CEO of AutoWeb said. “This year’s winning manufacturers are delivering products that best meet the needs of today’s car buyers. More than ever, consumers expect the best in buying, driving, and ownership experiences. Congratulations to all the winners for developing vehicles that match and often exceed, these expectations.”
The only German-engineered, mass-market wagon on sale I the U.S., the Golf SportWagen boasts a blend of performance and practicality. Powered by a standard 1.8-liter, 170-horsepower engine, the Golf SportWagen is available in three trim levels, S, SE, and SEL. The SportWagen also offers VW’s 4Motion® all-wheel-drive system. Prices start at $21,685.
The Buyer’s Choice Awards used price quote data for the more than 120 million consumers who visited the network of AutoWeb websites from last October (2017) to this past October (2018). For more information on the Buyer’s Choice awards program visit the AutoWeb website.
