In the past when you purchased a Toyota RAV4, more than likely the last thing on your mind was buying an off-road all-terrain vehicle. The 2019 Toyota RAV4 Adventure changes everything, and allows you to go places you have never gone before.
Tell us more about 2019 RAV4 Adventure
The RAV4 was completely redesigned for the 2019 model year, complete with a tall, rugged profile and a modernized, sportier interior. Most of the lineup’s grade levels are available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Adventure is the only one offered solely in all-wheel drive.
2019 RAV4 Adventure operates with an all-new torque vectoring all-wheel drive system. This system will send up to 50 percent of the engine's power to the rear wheels in an on-demand environment. It will also send additional power to any specific wheels that need it due to loss of traction.
Another component of the 2019 RAV4 Adventure’s all-wheel drive system is electronic rear driveline disconnect. This system sends all power to the Adventure’s front wheels and it will operate like a front-wheel drive vehicle. The big benefit here is improved gas mileage.

2019 Toyota RAV Adventure Driving Modes
While testing the RAV4 all-wheel drive on the road, I was drawn to the center console featuring a nice big multi-terrain select dial and driving mode buttons. While looking modern and flashy, I found all these gadgets served a very important purpose.
First, the driving mode buttons. Normal mode allows your RAV4 to drive as you would expect – normally. That is common sense. If you are watching how much you spend at the gas pump, you will want to live in ECO (short for Economy) mode the majority of time you drive, especially in the city. Sport mode gives you more responsive acceleration. I found it most useful when pulling out into heavy traffic with small merging windows and accelerating to get on to the highway.
I should mention that the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid also features an EV mode, which is beneficial at low speeds for short distances when you want to shut off the gas engine and use only electric mode. The RAV4 Hybrid demand is becoming a national phenomenon, and is exceptionally difficult to find and buy. At least not without waiting times of up to four months. However, you have to believe me when I say it is so worth the wait. You WILL like it.
The multi-terrain select dial gives you the ability to get the most amount of traction based on the ground you are driving over and through. You can choose from “normal”, “mud and sand” and “rock and dirt”. You can also push the “Snow” button for traveling on snowy roads.
While Adventure utilizes a dial, other 2019 Toyota RAV4 trim levels with AWD use buttons to accomplish your multi-terrain selection.
I’ll take RAV4 Towing Capacity for $3500 please Alex
Ironically, that Jeopardy wager is also symbolic of the highest 2019 Toyota RAV4 towing capacity. For people who plan on pulling heavier things like trailers and small boats, the Adventure, which delivers a 3,500 pound tow capacity, might be the right choice.
The 2019 RAV4 Hybrid trims offer 1,750 pound tow capacity, while all other gasoline grades provide 1,500 pound tow capacities.
Orange is the New RAV
As soon as you open any of the doors to look inside a 2019 Toyota RAV4 Adventure, you will see the primary interior accent color. Orange.
You can choose your Adventure in either black or light gray embossed interior seats with orange accents. Orange accents within the seats. Orange stitching. Orange storage pockets. Orange smart storage shelf. And you know what? It looks really nice. It totally works. I encourage people to check it out at your local dealership.
Features inside the Adventure that impressed are Entune 3.0 Audio Plus with SiriusXM, a user-friendly 8-inch multimedia screen, Apple CarPlay, 7-inch multi-information display, and a rear cargo area 120V/100W power outlet.
What do you think of the 2019 Toyota RAV4? Would you consider the Adventure trim and where do you think you will take it for fun and play? Also, have you had any interesting experiences with the RAV4 Hybrid?
