I attended the world premiere event of both 2024 Lexus GX and Lexus TX this past week, and it was incredible.
Two amazing vehicles that should accommodate and satisfy big needs in the SUV market.
For today I want to focus on the 2024 Lexus GX 550. Many aspects of this model both surprised and amazed me.
2024 Lexus GX Trim Levels
Look for six different trim levels for 2024 Lexus GX 550. It is available in Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+.
Premium and Luxury grades look more sophisticated and prestigious. Overtrail trims are tough and rugged and eye-catching.
All of these grades, though, have big power numbers.
2024 Lexus GX Engine
The all-new Lexus GX 550 is built with significantly more power than its predecessor, GX 460.
Last year, owners could expect 301 horsepower and 329 lb.-ft. torque in the 2023 GX 460.
Now, thanks to a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, drivers will be achieving 349 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. torque.
This is matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The ride should be smooth and loaded with power when needed. Hopefully, I will be invited to test drive the new 2024 Lexus GX as soon as it is available.
Looking forward, a hybrid GX option will be available at a later date.
2024 Lexus GX 550 Offroad
The 2024 Lexus GX Overtrail trim level is made for the trails. Over. Under. Through. Anything.
Look for several key systems designed to help you navigate uneven and potentially hazardous obstacles.
First, 2024 GX Overtrail has full-time 4WD. Also, look for a limited-slip locking center differential, as well as electronic locking rear differential.

You may also use systems such as crawl control, downhill assist control, 3D multi-terrain monitor, electronic KDSS (kinetic dynamic suspension system), and multi-terrain select (you can use this in 4WD High and 4WD Low).

2024 Lexus GX Towing
Some Lexus GX fans were nervous if the next-gen 2024 Lexus GX would have sufficient towing capacity.
They do not need to worry any longer.
Plan on a maximum tow capacity of 8,000 pounds with four of the 2024 Lexus GX 550 trim levels: Premium, Premium+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+.
GX 550 Luxury towing capacity is 6,990 pounds and Luxury+ is 6,780 pounds.
The 2023 GX 460 tow capacity was 6,500 pounds.
Significant improvement here my friends.
2024 Lexus GX 550 Configurations
Potential buyers can choose from a 2024 Lexus GX with either two rows or three rows of seating.
I was able to have extended hands-on time (thank you Lexus USA) with a GX 550 Overtrail with two rows. The second row has a tumble forward mechanism that was easy to use and allowed me to access the back without effort.
If you choose three rows, the third row is offered with either manual or power third row operations.
Also, there is plenty of cargo space (more than last year). Travelers can fit up to five suitcases with the third row folded down.
Impressive.
Time for Your 2024 Lexus GX Comments
There are so many things to like about the new Lexus GX. These were just a few of my thoughts about what really fired me up.
I really shoud write a follow-up story on my 2024 Lexus GX interior favorite things.
Like the new olive Ultrasuede seat accents in the Overtrail, the 14-inch Lexus Interface multimedia screen, 12.3-inch multi-information display, and 21-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound audio.
How do you like Lexus GX 550 so far? What things have made an impression on you?
Thanks for reading everyone. See you next story.
