Big Reveal for 2022 Toyota GR86 - Shocking Pricing, More Power and Speed

Car enthusiasts should start seeing the first 2022 GR86 models hitting local dealerships in December.

Expect new exterior and interior styling, more power than previous generation, and very reasonable pricing.

2022 Toyota GR86 Pricing

Toyota will offer two different trim levels - GR86 and GR86 Premium. Both give buyers the choice of 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmission.

Pricing starts at $27,700.

Look for a GR86 manual transmission price of $27,700 and $29,200 for automatic transmission.

GR86 Premium pricing for manual transmission is $30,300 and $31,800 for automatic transmission.

Paddle shifters are standard equipment with automatic transmissions, giving a more thrilling and involved experience. Driving modes are Normal, Snow, Track, and Sport.

With manual transmission you can push a button and instantly engage Track mode, as well as being able to turn off vehicle stability control.

I am pleasantly surprised by the pricing scheme, considering a 2020 Toyota 86 started at $27,060. Nice work here Toyota. Way to keep the next-gen GR86 affordable.

2022 GR86 Specs

A 2022 Toyota GR86 offers a larger engine and increases of 18% more horsepower and 11% more torque than the previous generation.

A naturally aspirated 2.4-liter horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine powers the 2022 GR86. This produces 228 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. torque (up from 205 and 156).

Most people at least wonder about the 0-60 time of a vehicle, even if they may never use it in that way on the road.

Well, a 2022 Toyota GR86 now accelerates from 0-60mph in 6.1 seconds (improved from 7.0 seconds) for the manual transmission and 6.6 seconds for the automatic (improved from 8.0 seconds).

Of course, these measurables mean nothing without ride comfort and performance in real-world scenarios.

Toyota says its new GR86 "provides a responsive and powerful driving experience - especially when coming out of the curves and onto the straightaways."

2022 Toyota GR86 Colors

Seven available colors are ready for potential buyers this year - Halo White, Steel Silver, Raven Black, Track bRED, Neptune, Trueno Blue, and Pavement Grey.
