Toyota Tacoma has been the top selling midsize truck in America for a decade and a half. Now those are some strong bragging rights.
Especially with all the competition in its market segment.
When you are as tough and rugged and reliable and dependable as Tacoma, though, it becomes quite clear why consumers choose Tacoma over all others.
Plus, add in the fact that Toyota Tacoma has the highest resale value over all cars, trucks and SUVs across all brands. That might just seal the deal, so to speak.
Yet, Toyota is not resting on its past successes with 2021 Tacoma. Several new trim levels and changes should make it very attractive to consider upgrading to a 2021 model year.
So, why not rank the changes? That sounds fun. Today I give my worst to first. This is not necessarily reflective of a true “worst,” but I had to make a list, and this is all in fun.
Feel free to leave a comment with your personal rankings. We can see how your list compares with mine.
5) Wind Chill Pearl color
2021 Toyota Camry XSE - Wind Chill Pearl
Many popular Toyota models are switching over from Blizzard Pearl to Wind Chill Pearl as their “other white choice.”
Wind Chill Pearl is brilliant in the sun. Plus, it has a brighter, whiter hue than Blizzard Pearl. I would call this both classy and sporty all in one.
I am a fan.
4) Tacoma Nightshade
Nightshade Edition is a cool, sporty alternative in the Toyota Tacoma lineup.
Look for black Nightshade accents throughout the exterior and interior cabin. Standard black leather seats are both soft and supportive.
The 2021 Tacoma Nightshade Edition is based on Tacoma Limited and features many luxury upgrades.
My favorite Toyota Nightshade is 4Runner Nightshade, but Tacoma is still a solid choice.
3) Tacoma Trail Edition
Tacoma Trail Edition is based on on SR5 trim level and is offered in both 4x2 and 4x4.
The highlight here is additional bed storage that offers an insulated cooler box. Get ready for your next camping or fishing adventure.

I picked Trail Edition above Nightshade for the pure function it could potentially add.
What do you think?
2) Dual zone temperature control
Toyota has made dual zone digital climate control standard on all 2021 Tacoma trucks with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. Most Tacomas purchased are with V6, so this should assist many drivers and their co-pilots equally.
Now on to the top change for 2021 Toyota Tacoma.
1) Tacoma TRD Pro Lunar Rock color
Normally I would not put a change at the top of the list if it simply a new color. However, Lunar Rock has taken the Toyota truck and SUV world by storm this year.
This is one of the most challenging vehicles to get in the whole country. In fact, it does not matter if you want a Lunar Rock Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner or Sequoia. It will be tough to find.
The best part of adding Lunar Rock to 2021 Tacoma TRD Pro is that more than likely, this color will be available on other 2022 Toyota Tacoma trim levels.
