If you have not read my other article about Toyota Prius oil consumption I would highly suggest you start there first. I also happen to have written another article about what else can cause this issue. My point here is not to give false hope to anyone, but to uncover truth that may help us Prius owners get more out of these awesome little cars.
I have spoken with some people at BG Products and the have told me that their "Hybrid" Kit will help hybrid cars, especially Prius with problems such as oil consumption. While there are several things that can contribute to this happening, it is widely known that carbon coked piston ring lands is a major cause of oil consumption in Gen 2 Prius.
I want to walk you through what I have done so far and the results that I have seen after installing these products in my car and driving for about 1000 miles.
The Install Of The Hybrid Kit On My Toyota Prius
The BG Hybrid Repair Kit consists of three parts, all of which I explain in another story. The process is simple if you are familiar with changing your own oil. The EPR (engine performance restore) goes in before you change the oil. Then you idle the car for 15 minutes. Once off, drain the oil as usual and change the filter. I personally use a synthetic oil filter and synthetic engine oil as well. You then add the MOA (not sure what this stands for but it is added into the crankcase with the oil) then add the 44K (again not sure what this means) into the fuel tank.
You then start the car and drive it normally. This is literally it when it comes to installing these things in the car.
Here Is What I Have Noticed
When I bought the car for $1000 from a nice lady who trashed it, it had a bad battery and the engine sounded like it wanted to explode on me. After doing some serious homework and having excellent success with reconditioning and repairing the traction battery, I continued my quest to fix all the neglected things that were ailing this sad Prius.
I replaced the cabin air filter, transmission fluid, spark plugs, and quite a few other things. I even fixed a few wires that a mouse had chewed through as well. All this to hopefully achieve the highly sought after amazing MPG these cars tend to get. My driving was putting me about 38 mpg, not what I wanted an still the engine was ticking like an old submarine diesel engine from WWII.
After installing all this stuff my engine seemed to get louder actually, and it really made me nervous. Not only that, but many Prius owners also complain of hard starts and stops. The car feels like it jolts on and off when switching between the gas and electric drive. Mine also had been doing this and it has been of major concern to me.
As I have been driving the car, I have begun to notice some really cool things. Now take this with a grain of salt, I am only 1000 miles into my oil change at this point. I have noticed though that my engine is now super quiet, like it actually sounds like a Prius again. It is super smooth when it idles and not only that those hard jolts on and off have diminished almost completely. Honestly, I am super stunned at how well this has been working. Not only that but I have seen a 7 MPG increase on my highway fuel economy. I went from 39 to 46 MPG coming back from Portland just the other day. This is a gamechanger for sure.
Conclusion
While I have not run the full 5,000 mile gambit to see if this product will be stopping my oil consumption, I will say some of the benefits so far have really made me feel that BG has made an amazing product line up to help these hurting hybrids. Stay tuned for the next iteration of what I will find in upcoming miles with more amazing results. I just hope that this does cure my oil consumption issue, because I really have taken a liking to this car.

Love reading ur Knowledge n experience on the Prius! Since I have a 2007 model that I'm starting to add oil between oil changes this article really got me reading every tidbit of info u have provided.
I bought into ur 3 steps to possibly cure these problems (loss of oil and reduced mpg) and I too really love my Prius and have not radically changed my driving habitlem to account for these minor problems.
I have searched on line my local auto parts franchises (eg. Auto Zone an O'Reily) but cannot find any of these three BG products u r using!
Do u have a source u can share with me? e.g.I live in So Cal

You can get them on Amazon, it's where I've bought mine. You can also do a search on BG's website for local places that sell their products. Some dealerships and mechanic shops carry them.

Most auto parts stores do NOT DISPLAY BG products out front , or online. You have to ask the counter person, & then they Go back in store somewhere to pull them out. BG does not pay stores to advertise for them !
