IndyCar Champ Dario Franchitti will rely on a new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 to lead the field of the 2014 Indianapolis 500 in 11 days and having spent some practice time in the official pace car ahead of the big race – the 4-time series champ and 3-time Indy 500 winner claims that the new Camaro Z/28 shatters preconceived notions about American muscle cars.

We reported a few weeks back that General Motors was going to make an effort to prevent people from “cloning” the new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 by restricting the components that make the new Z/28 so unique and while the company will restrict the sale of some of those items in order to prevent people from making their own Z/28 at home – it looks like some of the components will be available to owners of other 5th gen Camaros.

While this video of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray doesn’t offer the on-board telemetry or lap times for the newest American sports car on the most famous European road course, this 10 minute long video of the C7 lapping the Nürburgring is our first look at the new Stingray on the Ring – even though this is far from a record-setting lap attempt.

When the new C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray made its world debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, many of the loud mouthed, old school Corvette owners cried foul at the new look – insisting that this car wouldn’t succeed due to the unconventional look – but after the first four months of 2014 the new Corvette is outselling the previous model by almost 200%.

This weekend, visitors at the National Corvette Museum will get to meet the newest Callaway tuned C7 Corvette Stingray – with a supercharger package that helps this beast produce 620 horsepower and 600lb-ft of torque.

During internal testing, General Motors used the Pirelli Trofeo R high performance tires that are standard on the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 on the more powerful Camaro ZL1 – but the supercharged ZL1 was still slower than the naturally aspirated Z/28 on a road course.

This past weekend I was privy to seeing and hearing a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible mule out on the open road and while I am not sure if the car that I heard was wearing production spec exhaust – the few brief seconds that I heard of the new supercharged LT4 sounded sweet enough to melt the heart of any performance car lover.
