This weekend Ricky Taylor and Jordan Taylor become the first ever American born drivers to win the Petit LeMans in their Corvette Daytona Prototype with help from Italian teammate Max Angelelli, but the Road Atlanta win wasn’t enough to stop the Action Express Corvette DP from winning the 2014 United SportsCar Championship.

Last week we had our first video showing the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 lapping the famed German Nürburgring and today, we have our first image of the new C7 Z06 badly crashed at the Nürburgring – an accident which was rumored to have happened while General Motors was working on setting a new record time with the “most track capable Corvette ever”.

The Dodge Viper and the Chevrolet Corvette went head to head this past weekend to decide the champion for the 2014 IMSA United SportsCar Championship in the GTLM class and when the 10 hour race at Road Atlanta came to an end – Team Viper had claimed their 6th podium spot in the last 7 races to win both the team and driver’s title.

Even though the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray had a slow month while both the Porsche brand and the Dodge Viper had strong months, the GM sports car still outsold its closest competitors in the US market by a massive margin – even if you combine the sales numbers of the Porsche cars and the Viper.

The folks at Motor Trend have compiled their list of the best driver’s cars for 2014 and after putting 10 performance models head to head, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 was chosen as the best of the bunch – beating a collection of cars that vary from the Ford Fiesta ST to the Porsche 911 Turbo S to the BMW i8.

Later last night I saw what I believe to be a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS near the General Motors Proving Grounds and when the driver climbed into the throttle as he or she sped away, it sounded pretty healthy – very much like the C7 Corvette Stingray which pulled out behind it and quickly climbed to speed as well.

While General Motors hasn’t had much (or anything) to say about the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, we can make guesses as to what we will see when the 6th gen F Body arrives by looking at the features of the current Corvette – including the new 8-speed automatic transmission that will make the Camaro quicker and more efficient.

Over the past few months, Corvette fans have been flocking to Bowling Green Kentucky to see the eight historic models damaged during the sinkhole collapse before those cars were shipped back to GM for repairs, but after careful consideration, it has been decided that only 3 of the 8 cars will be repaired and sadly, the sinkhole exhibit in the Skydome will be sealed up.
