The image above shows what many people believed was the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro after being posted on Tuesday by Instagram user motorcitygreek, but further investigation has revealed that these are simply a trio of customized current production Camaros that were being filmed for an upcoming automotive reality show.

When the National Corvette Museum issued a picture of the Mallett Hammer Corvette upside down in the dirt earlier this week with the rear wheels and suspension seemingly intact, there were hopes that this super tuned Corvette would be in better shape – but when the car was removed it turned out to be the most severely damaged of the 8 cars in the sinkhole.

The Union Auto Workers at General Motors’ Bowling Green Kentucky facility where the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray held a vote last night whether or not they should strike – with a whopping 93% voting in favor of refusing to work until their demands are met.

Even though the new C7 Chevrolet Corvette has been on the market for less than a year, the new Stingray is already popping up on the used car market and one particular 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe covered in a sharp looking police livery has caught my eye on the Swedish classifieds site Blocket – illustrating that the new Vette looks awesome as a cop car.

The National Corvette Museum announced last night that the construction crew had unearthed the 8th and final Chevrolet Corvette lost in the sinkhole that swallowed the floor of the Skydome exhibit back on February 12th – although this final car will likely be the most difficult and the most time consuming to remove.

Although it was widely expected that the “base model” Chevrolet Corvette Stingray wouldn’t get the new 8-speed automatic transmission from the 2015 Corvette Z06 until the 2016 model year – General Motors announced the big news this morning that the 2015 model year Corvette Stingray coupes and convertibles would be available with the new 8-speed gearbox.

General Motors has announced that they will have three big debuts at the upcoming New York Auto Show including the refreshed Chevrolet Cruze, a new small car and – most intriguingly – a new variant of the Chevrolet Corvette…but there is no indication whatsoever what this new Corvette might be.

The team working on the extraction process at the National Corvette Museum was able to remove the 1.5 millionth Chevrolet Corvette from the debris in the sinkhole and while it was badly damaged, it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as the ZR-1 Spyder Concept as it appears that the majority of the car is still intact.

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will be the first modern ultra high performance Vette to feature an automatic transmission and in a recent interview, General Motors’ Bill Goodrich explained what the automaker did to ensure that the new 8L90 transmission was strong enough – and good enough – to help the C7 Z06 put all of that power to the ground.

The team working on the National Corvette Museum sinkhole project was able to pull the 6th Corvette from the gaping hole under the floor of the Skydome this evening, but the condition of the 1993 Corvette ZR-1 Spyder prevented the celebration that accompanied the freedom of the other damaged sports cars.

Since the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 debuted well over a year ago, we have speculated as to how awesome this monster muscle car would be in action on the track and with the first big media outlets getting ahold of the most track capable Camaro of all time – the first videos showing the Z/28 being pushed to the limits have surfaced on YouTube.

It has been two weeks since our last update on the National Corvette Museum sinkhole and while the crew has made significant progress on, they haven’t been able to extract any of the final three buried Corvettes from the rubble beneath the museum’s Skydome.

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will feature a new 8-speed automatic transmission which will eventually make its way into the option list for the 2016 Corvette Stingray and when it does, the high performance “base” Corvette should most certainly be able to offer better than 30 miles per gallon on the highway.

The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky announced this morning that Amazon.com has offered to help cushion the financial blow of the sinkhole repairs by donating 0.5% of eligible purchases on their website to the museum – with an extra $5 per purchase being donated by Amazon between now and the end of March.
