Tesla is predicting 500 miles for their best semi. I know from experience from Los Angeles to oregon is 707 miles and takes 11:30 at the speed limit, as low as 8-9 if speeding in a normal car. Meaning its entirely possible to go 200 miles beyond the predicted range of a tesla semi, but with a tesla semi youre going to have to stop and charge up for what 2, 3 hours? Tesla semis will probably be used for short distance intercity travel ie amazon delivering from the downtown Los anglees warehouse to the Victorville one. There is also the point that tesla would have to make a 1000 mile semi to compete for long haul truckers, but the issue is that if the tesla semi weighs 18-20k pounds as predicted, a 1k mile one would weigh 25-35k lbs which cuts into their 80k lbs limit.
