If the expectations of the supercharged 6.2L supercharged Hellcat Hemi prove to be accurate, anything in the 600hp range would make the Dodge Charger SRT the most powerful full production sedan sold in the United States – packing more of a punch than anything offered by the best performance sedans from Europe.

While we know that the new Hellcat Hemi will power the future 2016 Dodge Charger SRT, there seems to be plenty of space for the 6.4L Hemi in the Charger lineup as a Scat Pack option – similar to the setup of the 2015 Dodge Challenger.

After months of speculation as to when the Hellcat Hemi powered Dodge Challenger SRT would be unveiled and some disappointment for those of us who expected it to drop in New York last month, it looks as though the next generation SRT Challenger with the blown Hemi could debut at the 2014 Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit.

After existing as its own brand since 2011, the Chrysler Street and Racing Technology brand is being folded back into the Dodge brand and the mighty Viper will return to being the Dodge Viper for the 2015 model year - with a refresh for the supercar helping to kick off the return to the performance aimed Dodge brand.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger was designed to feature some styling cues of the 1971 Challenger and while the automaker has succeeded with this evolutionary design – there is still no convertible and the lack of a droptop version in a segment that obviously appreciates the open air freedom really blows my mind.

On Tuesday we looked at a picture of the Hellcat Hemi engine that will power the next generation SRT Challenger sitting on a factory engine stand from our friend The Mopar Man and today, The Mopar Man has new, spicy shots of the Hellcat Hemi in the Challenger’s engine bay along with some spy shots showing what we believe to be the new SRT Challenger.

Since the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T was introduced last week at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, there have been critics who hate the new look for a variety of different reasons – but Chrysler doesn’t care if you hate the 2015 Charger design because there really isn’t any competition for the brawny Mopar sport sedan.

Last night I was sitting in traffic in downtown Milford Michigan when I noticed a camouflaged Dodge Challenger driving the other direction a few lanes over and when those lanes began to move and the Challenger pulled away – the hearty roar from the exhaust leads to believe me that this was a Hellcat Hemi test mule.
