Production has started at Tesla Giga Berlin and in this report I am looking at the production ramp up numbers.
The magazine "Auto, Motor und Sport" assumes that shortly after the start of production on Tuesday, 1,000 vehicles per week and in the first half of 2022 already 30,000 vehicles of the Model Y Performance will be produced in Grünheide . At full capacity, Tesla says it wants to produce up to half a million vehicles a year in Germany.
Further product features are to be added to Giga Berlin in the future. The first Model Y will be produced in the colors "Pearl White Multi-Coat" and "Solid Black". According to Tesla's website, additional colors should be available from May. It remains unclear when the full production of the "Model Y Maximum Range" variant should roll off the assembly line in Grünheide. So far, industry insiders have assumed that it will initially continue to be produced in China.
