Electric vehicle battery startup QuantumScape said it has begun shipping prototypes of its batteries to automotive customers. It is an important milestone for the EV battery maker statrup, but my question that I want to raise here for you, is how far will it take Quantumscape to start the commercial production of the much expected solid state batteries for electric vehicles.
Like I said, this is a milestone both for Quantumscape and solid state batteries for electric vehicles. But keep in mind, this battery is a prototype, but possibly a workable prototype. This is why Quantuscape shipped to some carmakers. I don't know if Tesla is in the list or to which carmakers Quantumscape sent these batteries.
QuantumScape said it has begun shipping “A0” samples of its battery cells to its automaker clients. These samples are nearly full-size prototypes that will allow the automakers to test and begin the process of validating the company’s technology for automotive use.
QuantumScape didn’t name the automakers receiving prototypes, but German auto giant Volkswagen
is a longtime investor in the company.
