Sound system upgrades big draw for 2012 Toyota Tacoma

Highlights:

2012 Tacoma Access Cab: This version of the popular compact pickup truck gets a new optional 6-speaker system with an AM / FM / satellite radio-ready head unit. The system has a single-disc CD player, built-in Bluetooth (for hand-free phone usage) and USB port. The port lets occupants use an iPod, mp3 player or flash drive with music files.

2012 Tacoma DoubleCab V6: The premium sound system in this Tacoma is for someone who wants sophistication. The audio system in this truck is advanced and has the latest and greatest connectivity toys, like navigation, Entune, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio with iTunes tagging and text / email-to-voice. The system is what Toyota calls an "infotainment system." It is delivered to the ears via a JBL GreenEdge audio system with seven speakers. Yeah, and you're going green, too. GreenEdge cuts fuel consumption by lowering the electric power demand on the truck.

Toyota Entune: The much-ballyhooed system is a three-year deal for buyers of 2012 Toyotas. It marries Bing and Pandora data services and free mobile apps that beginning this spring will include iHeartRadio, MovieTickets.com and OpenTable. The way it (pictured) works is to connect a smart phone to Bluetooth wireless or a USB cable. Features operate when someone talks or by using in-car controls. Toyota promotes the ability to get real-time information that includes traffic and weather updates, fuel prices, sports results and stocks.
