Ready or not the new 2014 Lexus IS350 and IS250 are about to become very edgy sport sedans. The new styling is enough to surprise many who have not seen the cars in person. In order to keep the shock and awe going strong through the car’s introduction, the people at Lexus and DeviantArt plan to kick the styling up a notch at this November at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.
The new 2014 Lexus IS is quite a looker in person. There are two versions. The F-Sport variants look very aggressive. The new Lexus spindle grill is taken to extremes on the IS F-Sport cars. Some will be put off by this. However, on the IS250 and IS350 that do not receive the F-Sport performance and styling upgrades the look is perfect to those who like the Lexus design trends.
DeviantArt and Lexus will roll out concepts designed as part of contest. The talented winner will receive a cash award plus a lease on a 2014 Lexus IS F-Sport. That winner is Rob Evans from Seattle, Washington. He will also be given the VIP treatment by Lexus and his prize includes a trip to SEMA. His design was the best of the 600 submitted and judged by Brian Bolain, Lexus corporate manager marketing communications; Clark Ishihara, VIP AutoSalon president; Nate Martinez, Motor Trend associate online editor; and Alex Shen, Calty Design Research, Inc. studio chief designer.
The second prize winner will receive a package that includes $1,500. The custom exterior and wheel modifications that were part of the design will be applied by VIP Auto Salon.
The new 2014 Lexus IS350 and IS 250s have just started to arrive at dealerships and Lexus is sponsoring ride and drives for enthusiasts and dealer personnel, which TorqueNews attended last week.
One thing is for certain. Those who have criticized the Lexus brand for not being sporty or edgy enough will have to look for new complaints. The Lexus IS 250 and IS350 are now the sportiest and most radically styled cars in the sport compact class.
