10 Cars With The Best Headlights - Subaru Lights The Road With Top Luxury Models

Which 2021 vehicles have the best headlights for consumers, and why do you need them? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says around half of all fatal crashes in the U.S. occur in the dark, and more than a quarter occur on unlit roads. A vehicle’s headlights can make the difference between being safe and being in a potentially dangerous accident.

It’s so essential, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) now includes headlight testing in its safety scores. The U.S. News report recently announced its 10 Vehicles With the Best Headlights for 2021. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid and 2021 Subaru Ascent make the new list.

10 Vehicles With the Best Headlights for 2021

In the new U.S. News report, the list comprises six luxury models and four mainstream-brand vehicles. The best models are the Acura RDX, Audi A6, Audi e-Tron Sportback, Genesis G90, Lexus NX, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-9, Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, Tesla Model 3, and Subaru Ascent. Their scores are listed alphabetically and by year below.

2020 Acura RDX: $37,800 - 8.1/10 | Safety Score: 9.5/10
2020 Audi A6 Allroad: $65,900 - 8.2/10 | Safety Score: 9.5/10
2020 Audi e-tron Sportback: $77,300 - 8.3/10 | Safety Score: TBD
2020 Genesis G90: $72,200 - 8.4/10 |Safety Score: 10/10
2020 Lexus NX: $36,870 - 7.4/10 | Safety Score: 9.5/10
2020 Mazda CX-5: $25,190 - 8.6/10 | Safety Score: 9.9/10

The U.S. News report does not include all Subaru models with the best headlights. Subaru recently improved its safety scores in 2021 model year vehicles by eliminating inferior headlights and giving all trims the best lights. The IIHS announced models that have improved their safety rating, and the 2021 Subaru Forester, Outback, and Legacy are also on its latest list.

The 2021 Crosstrek Hybrid, Crosstrek Limited, and all 2021 Subaru Ascent, Forester, Outback, and Legacy trim levels now come with new LED steering responsive headlights (low and high beam) for improved visibility when driving at night. The responsive headlights aim the headlight beams in the direction the vehicle is turning and not merely pointing straight ahead.

You don’t have to buy a luxury vehicle to get the best headlights. Subaru offers many of its models with LED steering responsive headlights. They come standard on the 2021 Crosstrek Hybrid, Crosstrek Limited, and all 2021 Subaru Ascent, Forester, Outback, and Legacy models.
