Do Subaru drivers take more risks than other drivers? As a car brand, there is only one automaker with drivers having more speeding tickets than Subaru. A new study from Insurify says Alfa Romeo is number one, and Subaru is the second-worst brand for the most speeding tickets.
The national average is 10.53 percent of drivers who have a speeding violation on their record. Here are the top five car brands with the most speeding tickets.

1. Alfa Romeo - 41.45% more speeding tickets than average
2. Subaru - 20.38% more speeding tickets than average
3. Volkswagen - 17.77% more speeding tickets than average
4. Maserati - 16.20% more speeding tickets than average
5. RAM - 15.74% more speeding tickets than average
There are 2.41 out of 100 Subaru drivers with a speeding violation. Two Subaru models drive the average up for the Japanese automaker. Insurify says the worst offender is the sport-tuned Subaru WRX and performance-tuned Subaru WRX STI (20.03 out of 100 drivers reporting a speeding ticket on their record).
It’s no surprise since the WRX and STI attract a performance buyer in the 25-35-year-old age range. The second Subaru model is a surprise. The Subaru Impreza sedan and the 5-Door compact car comes in at number nine on the list of vehicles with the most speeding tickets. It has a speeding rate of 14.66 percent. The Impreza compact car is an entry-level compact car that is sporty but certainly not fast.
Although Subaru drivers are 20 percent more likely than the average driver to have a speeding ticket on their record, not all Subaru car models attract a high share of lead-footed drivers.
It’s not a surprise the Ascent 3-Row family hauler has the best behaved Subaru drivers, with just 6.76 out of 100 drivers reporting a speeding ticket on their record.
Compared to all other car brands, Subaru drivers have the second-highest share of speeders in the US. These drivers rack up speeding tickets at a rate that’s more than 20 percent higher than the national average.
The sporty Subaru WRX and WRX STI attract a very high proportion of speeding drivers, nearly twice the national average. The Impreza compact is the second model with the most speeding tickets.
