Ford Now Has 5 Vehicles With The Most Safety Recalls, The F-150 Is On The Top 20 List

If you drive a Ford F-150, the top-selling vehicle in America, you'll spend more time visiting the dealer to have a safety recall addressed. If you drive a Ford Maverick, you'll receive even more recall notices from the automaker. It's because they are among the most recalled vehicles in America. 

A new study from iSeeCars says five Ford vehicles are among the top 25 cars with the most recalls. 

"It could be argued that a car company willing to issue and address safety recalls is being more proactive to protect its customers," said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars' Executive Analyst. "And while that sounds honorable, most consumers would prefer a car that does not have a recall that needs to be addressed, thus saving them the time and trouble of visiting a dealership."

It's a pain going to the dealer to get something fixed that should have been done right from the beginning. Even though it's covered under the new car warranty, time is money. 

I've listed Ford's five most recalled models and their ranking overall.

1. Ford Maverick - is number eleven overall, with 20.7 expected 30-year lifetime recalls. That's 6.4 times more than the median of 3.2.
2. Ford F-150 - is number nineteen overall, with 17.2 expected 30-year lifetime recalls. That's 5.3 times more than the median of 3.2.
3. Ford Bronco - is number twenty overall, with 17.0 expected 30-year lifetime recalls. That's 5.3 times more than the median of 3.2.
4. Ford Bronco Sport is number twenty-four overall with 14.9 expected 30-year lifetime recalls. That's 4.6 times more than the median of 3.2.
5. Ford Explorer - is number twenty-three overall, with 14.8 expected 30-year lifetime recalls. That's 4.6 times more than the median of 3.2.

The good news is that the Ford F-150 has fewer recalls than the Ram 1500 Classic and Ram 1500 pickup. 

• The Ram 1500 Classic - is number fourteen overall, with 19.3 expected 30-year lifetime recalls. That's 6.0 times more than the median of 3.2.
• The Ram 1500 - is number fifteen overall, with 19.1 expected 30-year lifetime recalls. That's 5.9 times more than the median of 3.2.

What is the most recalled vehicle you can buy?

Porsche's Taycan electric sports car is projected to be the most recalled at 70.7. 

What is the vehicle with the least number of recalls?

Mini holds the top spot, with the MINI Convertible projected to have just 0.2 lifetime recalls. Brauer says, "A vehicle like the Mini Convertible or Lexus RX 450h has, literally, a fractional chance of being recalled even once, versus more than 70 projected recalls for the Porsche Taycan." 

"If you're hoping to avoid recall hassles, you can significantly improve your odds by choosing the right model," said Brauer

The Ford F-150 is the best-selling pickup truck for a reason. Just know that if you buy one, you'll spend a fair amount of time at the dealer getting a safety recall addressed. But it won't be as much time if you had purchased the Ram 1500.
