Performance enthusiasts are getting more performance from the new 2017 BMW M240i. It gets more power and torque and the new-generation 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine. It will begin arriving this summer. How much additional power does it get? The new inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine develops 335 hp, a 15 hp increase in maximum power output over its predecessor. The new engine has an impressive 369 lb-ft of torque, 39 lb-ft more than before.
How quick is it?
The 2017 M240i Coupe will be quicker too. The new engine produces the same performance levels as the 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe. It will launch from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds quicker than its predecessor. The new 3.0-liter mill is fitted with an aluminum crankcase, aluminum cylinder head and new acoustic shielding. BMW says the twin-scroll turbocharger is integrated into the steel exhaust manifold and electric wastegate control makes it more fuel efficient. It also uses an indirect intercooler integrated into the intake manifold.
8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual available
Both 2017 BMW M240i Coupe and M240i Convertible come mated with the latest generation of the 8-speed Steptronic Sport Automatic transmission as standard. Rear wheel drive models are available with a six-speed manual gearbox as a no cost option.
