If you are shopping for a used Subaru Legacy sedan, there is one state where you will pay too much. Torque News recently reported that a used Subaru Legacy has the highest used car price increase, has gone up the most over last year and will cost 38.9 percent more in Nebraska.
A recent iSeeCars report says a 3-year-old used Subaru Legacy has now dropped the most in affordability in Idaho. A used Subaru Legacy in Idaho is 44.7 percent above the used car affordability threshold in August 2022 and sells $17,957 over August 2019 used car prices. The average three-year-old used Subaru Legacy price in August 2022 is now $35,231.
Using its Car Affordability Index, iSeeCars calculated the pricing threshold for affordable cars. They analyzed three-year-old used vehicles that had been affordable between April and December 2019 but were no longer affordable from January to August 2022.
Why have used car prices risen?
iSeeCars says, "Used car prices have increased due to changes in consumer behavior, supply chain issues, and other effects of the pandemic; however, household incomes and wage growth have not grown at the same rate."
New sedan shoppers should consider buying a new 2023 Subaru Legacy. Three new Legacy trim levels are less expensive than the used model in Idaho.
What is the price of the 2023 Legacy?
The 2023 Legacy sedan now comes in five trim levels. The 2023 midsize sedan starts at $25,415 for the base trim, Premium ($27,715), Limited ($32,465), Sport with a new 2.4-liter turbo engine ($34,915), and Touring XT ($38,715). Destination and delivery fees are included in the pricing above ($1,020).
What makes the 2023 Subaru Legacy an excellent new car pick for shoppers? The Legacy is sought after for its standard all-wheel-drive, fuel mileage, reliability, and safety scores.
What is the Legacy fuel mileage?
The EPA says the Sport and Touring XT trims with the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine return an estimated 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway and 26 combined mpg. The standard naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-4 engine gets an EPA-estimated 27/35 mpg city/highway and 30 combined mpg.
What are the Legacy's safety scores?
Subaru Legacy is a top pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2023 Subaru Legacy earned the highest Top Safety Pick+ award.
Should you buy a used Subaru Legacy or a new one? Buying a new 2023 Legacy sedan is best for car shoppers now.
