Subaru of America (SOA) listened to customers who asked for a Crosstrek with more power and responded with the refreshed 2021 Subaru Crosstrek and a new 2.5-liter engine upgrade with better highway fuel mileage than the 2.0-liter engine. Customers responded by buying a record number of all Crosstrek trim levels in July.
SOA reports the Crosstrek achieved its best July ever with 13,402 vehicles delivered to customers, compared with 8,913 in July 2020. The subcompact SUV increased 50.4 percent last month, and year-to-date, Crosstrek posted a 42 percent increase leading all Subaru nameplates.

How does the Subaru Crosstrek compare to Forester and Outback?
Subaru reports they delivered 12,235 2021 Forester models to customers in July compared with Outback's 14,058 sales and Crosstrek's 13,402. It's the first time in a year, the Subaru Outback outsold the popular Forester, and it's the first time the Crosstrek has been on top of the Forester.
The Crosstrek is also the hottest model in Canada. Subaru Canada reports the subcompact SUV set another record month with 2,839 units sold, an increase of 94.6 percent over July 2020. The 2021 Crosstrek was recently named Best Small Utility Vehicle in Canada by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada.
Why is the Crosstrek so popular?
The 2021 Crosstrek hits the sweet spot with standard all-wheel-drive, hatchback utility, off-road ability, top safety scores, and affordability. Customers with active lifestyles like its X-Mode in standard trims and duel-function X-Mode in the Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims. The unique settings offer improved off-road and severe weather ability.
The Crosstrek also offers a younger demographic a subcompact SUV with a taller ride height (8.7-inches of ground clearance), making it ideal for the trail.
What is the price of the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek?
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek comes in five trim levels for customers and gets a small price increase. The base trim is priced from $23,295, Premium ($24,345), all-new Sport ($27,545), and Limited ($29,045). Prices include destination and delivery ($1,050).
What is the Crosstrek fuel milage?
The refreshed Crosstrek with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine gets an EPA estimated 28/33 mpg and 30 combined mpg with CVT automatic transmission. The new 2.5-liter engine gets an EPA estimated fuel mileage of 27/34 city/highway mpg and 29 combined mpg.
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is a hot model in North America and sets new sales records in July. Subaru hit a home run with the newly-refreshed subcompact SUV.
