What are the best subcompact SUVs of 2021? The list is long with the Chevrolet Trax, Jeep Renegade, Kia Soul, Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-3, Subaru Crosstrek, Honda HR-V, and Toyota C-HR. According to a new report from RPM, the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is the best based on reliability, quality, performance, and resale value.
RPM ranks the Honda HR-V number three, Hyundai Kona number two, and the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek number one. They say there's a long list of qualities making it the best.
They give the nod to the newly-refreshed 2021 Crosstrek for its standard all-wheel-drive "that proves to be one of the most capable on the market," above-average versatility, low fuel consumption, suspension that seems to have been calibrated precisely for North America roads, and its excellent resale value.
RPM also gives the subcompact Crosstrek SUV the best ranking for its Boxer engine, providing a low center of gravity offering exceptional stability and balance on slippery roads.
The Crosstrek also scores number one for its new, more powerful 2.5-liter Boxer engine, and for outdoor enthusiasts, it offers X-Mode for off-road capability. "It features a well-assembled cabin, offers excellent value for money, and incorporates advanced technologies and efficient EyeSight driving assistance," said RPM.
What is the price of the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek?
The 2021 Crosstrek subcompact SUV comes in five trim levels for customers and gets a small price increase. The base trim is priced from $23,295, Premium ($24,345), all-new Sport ($27,545), and Limited ($29,045). Prices include destination and delivery ($1,050).
What's next for the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek?
Subaru should announce the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek this summer, and it won't have many upgrades in the fifth year of its second-generation life cycle. Look for few changes to the 2022 Crosstrek, but the 2023 Crosstrek will be the model to watch. Recent reports say the compact SUV will get a new fuel-efficient 1.5-liter direct-injection turbocharged engine. Read the Torque News report below.
