The new 2016 Subaru WRX STI’s performance abilities can only be truly appreciated on the race track. Subaru Australia knows how to show performance fans it’s true capabilities. They let them ride with two champion drivers in specially prepared 2016 Subaru WRX STIs. In Australia, Mount Panorama, Bathurst is an icon in Australian motorsport and there’s no better place on the planet to drive the STI. Subaru WRX STI fans got a chance to ride along in two new WRX STIs on fast laps around the iconic race track.
It’s an annual event
Every year, Subaru Australia teams up with Dean Herridge Motorsport to offer their customers the opportunity to purchase tickets for a once in a lifetime ride experience in the STI around the legendary Mount Panorama, Bathurst race track. It’s called Climb the Mountain-Bathurst 2016 and takes place over two days with over 70 Subaru customers taking part in the fun.
Buckle up and hold on
Performance enthusiasts get to climb aboard, strap in and ride as a passenger in the high-performance sedans. The lucky Subaru attendees were taken on hot laps around Mount Panorama with either former Australian Tarmac Champion Dean Herridge or former Australian Rally Champion Cody Crocker. There was a blue and a red 2016 WRX STI along with older versions of the rally-bred Subarus for fans to ride in.
The STI will make you a believer
There are 23 corners on the 6.2 km track for fans to experience the driving dynamics of the STI. The track has curves like Hell Corner, famous for its many horrific crashes before the days of barricades. After their hot laps, the participants were given photos with the drivers and in-car footage of their hot laps experience to take back home to show family and friends.
The 2016 Subaru WRX STI is a rally-bred performance car that can’t be fully experienced unless its taken to the track or rally stages. Subaru Australia knows how to show performance enthusiasts how the STI performs under extreme track conditions. They went away thoroughly impressed and likely went straight to the dealer to buy one.
