Subaru says they kept the 2.5-liter turbo boxer engine in the new-generation Subaru WRX STI so enthusiasts could make modifications easily. Tuners all over the globe have fun with the 2.5-liter Subaru powerplant. Here’s a modded STI that will make your mouth water.
IAG Performance pumps up the horsepower on this 2015 WRX STI to 1,200 hp and 908 lb-ft of torque. IAG Performance is a Maryland-based tuner who knows how to get the most out of the 2.5-liter boxer. They offer Subaru tuning and service, and this STI gets about everything they can throw at it.
It features an IAG Stage 4 Extreme short engine block, Manley crankshaft, IAG Stage 5 heads, custom lubrication system, and a custom radiator to cool all the heat from the 1,200hp monster build. It also features a 3.5-inch exhaust out the back. Boost is provided by a Precision Turbo unit and the extreme performance required a COBB Tunning V3 Accessport.
Power is transferred to all four wheels by way of a triple-disc clutch, a carbon fiber driveshaft, a custom gear set for the six-speed manual, DSS Level 5 front and rear axles, as well as Enkei wheels shod in Hoosier Slicks. Stopping power is provided by P&L Wilwood Drag Racing front and rear brakes.
