Why isn’t Mercedes A45 AMG 4MATIC competing in RallyCross? [video]

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG with 4MATIC needs to be in competing in RallyCross. Mercedes-Benz France sent the 2014 A45 AMG on a free ride cruise in the African desert and shows the new compact equipped with the new-generation 4MATIC. This car could take on the World Rally Championship series and RallyCross cars and be very competitive.

In the video below, we see the 2014 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG 4MATIC taking on the African desert and winning. These are similar conditions that the Rally cars are subjected to in every race. The A45 AMG equipped with the new-generation 4MATIC would be the perfect setup for this type of racing. Without any modifications and in stock form, this A45 AMG is a formidable challenger.

Mercedes-AMG has put some incredible power in a small compact production vehicle. Under the hood comes the most powerful series production four-cylinder engine in the world. AMG has taken their decades of experience and applied it to the new compact A-Series. The new A 45 AMG will inherit the corporate DNA and embody the AMG brand claim "Driving Performance." This video shows just how competent it is when equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel-drive.

The new 2014 A45 AMG takes the segment to another level and will appeal to the youngest AMG clientele to date. Mercedes will target predominantly urban buyers who are 30 to mid-40 age group with an extremely agile high-performance vehicle. But Mercedes should be targeting the RallyCross and WRC crowd as it would be an ideal target audience.

The A45 AMG is all about performance. It features a 355 hp 2.0-liter turbo engine combined with the standard AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive that will lead to extreme performance. The performance compact accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). Now that sounds like a good formula to challenge the RallyCross race cars.
