A Man Born With No Hands Shows How To Drive a Tesla Cybertruck Using His Arms – Heavy Doors & Lack of Stalks Introduce Unique Challenges, but He adds that “the Steering & Driving is Nice”

A disabled man shows how to drive a Tesla Cybertruck with no hands. He says the “doors are freaking heavy” and “the turning signals on the wheel are odd.” However, he adds, “the steering and driving is nice.”

Martin was born with no hands, and he recently shared a video documenting his experience driving a Cybertruck using only his arms.

Martin, who goes by the username @real86hands on Instagram and has amassed over 1 million followers, shared the video on the social media platform.

After driving the Cybertruck, Martin found several unique challenges operating the vehicle as a disabled person; however, he also says the vehicle has some good qualities.

The first issue Martin faced when trying to drive a Cybertruck was actually opening the door and getting in the vehicle.

Martin says the Cybertruck doors are “freaking heavy.”

Another challenge brought by the Cybertruck is the seat controls. Martin says because the seat controls are located on the bottom side of the seats, he has to use his feet to move his seat forward.

This seat control placement is shared by a lot of vehicles; however, a uniquely Tesla challenge he faced is the lack of turn signal stalks and a physical gear selector.

In the Cybertruck, Tesla has relocated the turn signal controls to capacitive buttons on the steering wheel and transformed the gear selector into a swipe mechanism on the 18-inch center touchscreen.

Having to rely solely on his arms, Martin says the turn signal buttons create some challenges. Also, he accidentally put the vehicle in reverse while trying to engage the touchscreen control to drive.

However, besides these challenges overall, Martin was impressed and pleased with the Cybertruck.

One uniquely Cybertruck feature he liked was the truck’s steer-by-wire system. The system only has to go 170 degrees from lock to lock, which means fewer rotations when steering the vehicle.

Martin was impressed with the Cybertruck’s steering radius and noted that the truck is both fun and smooth to drive.

Martin shared a video of his experience, and here is what he said…

“We’ll be driving a Cybertruck today. Just a couple of taps, and I’ll show you how I get in. This thing is so cool; I handled the door. And the doors are freaking heavy too."

Alright, we’re in the Cybertruck. I’m going to go ahead and buckle up. The controls for adjusting the seats are at the bottom of the seats. I have to use my feet to scoot forward, so give me a second while we scoot forward.

I can put my arms on the steering wheel, in the steering wheel, or around it, depending on how I like it.

There you go, drive. Oh, is that reverse? Oops.

Let’s go ahead and turn this baby around; the turning radius is so nice. If you guys are wondering, I do have a valid driver’s license. I’ve been driving for more than 10 years with no problems or tickets, but yeah, I love driving; it’s fun.

The turn signals are on the steering wheel, which is quite unusual. I’m accustomed to turn signal stalks, but it’s not too bad; just a couple of taps on the steering wheel should do it.

We’ll head over here and take a right. This is so much fun! It's really smooth, too. The ride is quite smooth, and the steering wheel feels nice as well.”

Overall, despite some challenges due to the absence of physical stalks, Martin appears to be impressed with the Cybertruck.
