Robert Wilkes is a Cybertruck owner and says he was recently doing DoorDash deliveries with his $100,000 truck.
Robert adds that on one of his delivery runs, he had to go off-road and ended up damaging his truck for a $12 payout.
The DoorDash Cybertruck driver shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook.
Here is what he wrote…
“DoorDash
I Drove DoorDash last night (it’s for punishment), and I ended up going off-road into the sagebrush. A lot of sagebrushes got stuck underneath, which was pretty noisy and screechy, but when I came out, I flew down the freeway (it was 12 a.m., so no vehicles were injured).
I Wound up hearing that horrible side scratch that typically would be digging into the paint/wrap by that tall sagebrush, but today, when I took it through the car wash, it looked pretty good.
Except, of course, those plastic panels. This has never been a pavement princess for me (that’s what the Tesla Roadster is for), but I try not to trash my $100k vehicles - that’s what my 1973 Chevy 4x4 is for.
Anyway, yeah, they are pretty indestructible, but watch out for those plastic panels (my front bumper is jacked, too.”
Below his post, Robert shared a picture of his Cybertruck showing all the visible scratches on his recently cleaned truck.
This is certainly interesting. Although only the plastic parts were damaged, Robert has caused more damage to his Cybertruck than he earned from the DoorDash delivery.
Naturally, people were curious to know why Robert was using his Cybertruck for DoorDash delivery runs.
In response, Robert says he’s not doing DoorDash for the money but rather to punish himself for ordering a Big Mac from McDonald's.
Robert says every time he orders food from McDonald's, he forces himself to do DoorDash deliveries until he earns as much money as he spent on the McDonald’s order.
Robert says this is a strategy he uses to stop him from eating a lot of fast food.
Explaining the whole situation, the Cybertruck owner writes…
“Context included to address questions about why a Cybertruck owner is doing DoorDash:"
If I go to McDonalds, I have to DoorDash my meal (e.g., get a Big Mac meal for $13.00), and I pretty much have to deliver two DoorDash orders painstakingly.
You make about $6/trip. I have no clue how door dashers make any money off that (much less me with my Cybertruck), and I’m clearly losing money just on wear and tear and waste of my time.
Thus, the punishment - keeps me from going to McDonald's… I’m weird like this…. I also commit to 10 burpees for every 10 minutes I spend on social media. Again, I don’t do DoorDash for the money.”
This is a peculiar way to keep oneself disciplined, and looking at the comments, several group members had interesting responses.
Summarizing Robert’s story, fellow group member Grace Dorman writes...
“I drove DoorDash last night (don’t worry, I’m not actually poor).”
Other Cybertruck owners say Robert shouldn’t worry about the scratches since it gives the Cybertruck more character.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Thomas Brendel, simply writes…
“Custom pinstripes.”
In response, Robert says…
“right? Gives it character!”
Overall, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners were amused by Robert’s decision to DoorDash using his $100,000. However, please let me know what you think in the comments. I don't door dash often but when I do it's over $100 with a fat tip. Never understand people who order a burger and pay twice as much for it after all the fees.

Just another attention needy person spending ridiculous money for a truck that can't do as many things as any of the other brands of truck builders. Sets too low to the ground for any off-roading, slanted sides of the bed, so can't carry toolboxes or a ladder rack. It is just a vehicle for people who need attention. Like this guy who has to go on social media and so how stupid he is.

First off it's a Tesla 🙄, that its a $100k Tesla and the owner decided door dashing it was the way to go for whatever reason, well ... don't understand the surprise here. This is 3 tons of delivery vehicle. Worse yet, 3 tons of passenger vehicle, how UNnecessary.
