Tesla Cybertruck Owners Report They are Getting Harassed By Toyota Prius Drivers on the Road

Multiple Cybertruck owners report receiving negative comments from Toyota Prius drivers on the road. Looking at the issue a bit more, there appears to be a major divide taking place in the electric vehicle world.

There is an unexpected divide going on in the environmentally conscious electrified vehicle world. The original ecologically conscious vehicle owners—Toyota Prius drivers—seem less than thrilled with the Cybertruck’s entrance into the same group.

I have been noticing this Cybertruck versus Prius sentiment for weeks; however, this divide recently came to the forefront in a fascinating back-and-forth in the Cybertruck Owners Only Facebook group.

The whole discussion started with a post by Sajad Ahmadi describing the negative comments he received from Toyota Prius drivers on the road.

Sajad is a Cybertruck owner from San Marcos, California, and here is how he explains the negativity he has received from Toyota Prius drivers.

“Hahahaha, I had this person who was driving in the opposite direction of me in a PRIUS come close to my truck, slowed down, kept giving me a thumbs down HAHAHAHA people man….”

At this point, you might think this is an isolated incident; however, in the comments, other Cybertruck owners chimed in, stating that they have experienced similar issues with Toyota Prius drivers.

Bryan Billings, another Cybertruck owner, writes, “Happened to me a few times. Polarized by fake media and politics.”

This is surprising enough. Looking at things from the surface, most people would assume that Cybertruck owners and Prius drivers are natural allies. However, the situation appears to be different on the road.

In a previous article I covered, a Cybertruck driver was complaining that women were laughing at him on the road. In that instance, as evidence of his tolerating character, he said, “I not only don’t like the Toyota Prius, I hate it. But I’m not going to pull up to a driver of a Prius and feign hysteria because they’re so ridiculous. To each their own. Whatever floats your boat.”

This is yet another fascinating example. Of all the vehicles he could have pointed out as not liking, the Cybertruck driver chose to highlight the Toyota Prius.

Going back to Sajad’s post, the sentiment amongst other Cybertruck owners appears to be similar—Prius drivers are not fans of Cybertruck owners, and the sentiment is true vice versa.

Another Cybertruck owner, Caesar Harris, speaking about Toyota Prius drivers, writes, “when I pass a Prius, it reminds me how high the Cybertruck is.”

Overall, looking at the comments, Cybertruck drivers appear to be unhappy with Prius owners and vice versa.

Personally, I find this quite surprising. Supposedly, both groups are made up of environmentally conscious car buyers; however, the two factions don’t seem to get along for some reason.

As with most Tesla stories lately, the sentiment suggests that the disagreement between Prius and Cybertruck owners has some political nature.

As Elon Musk increasingly becomes a political figure, so have Tesla vehicles. Looking at the comment section, it appears that Cybertruck drivers and Prius owners generally have opposing political views.

I did not see Elon Musk’s political views going so far as to tear apart the electric vehicle world. However, please let me know what you think in the comments. Pretty funny. The days of the Prius being a "virtue signaling" vehicle are long gone. Now mostly they are just seen as practical - the very opposite of a Cybertrucks. Priuses blend in, go about their business, could be any car. Cybertrucks are huge, brash, in your face, borderline impractical as a truck and godawful expensive. If anything they are the OPPOSITE of virtue-signaling, they are meant to show off their owners as a mark of excess. It's not unlike how Harley-Davidson motorcycles tend to be extremely loud to the point of making children cry just so that everyone in the vicinity will look at the rider and go Wow, he must be a real tough jerk. No surprise both groups get some pushback from ordinary folk.

Prius is such a virtue signaling thing still. "Look at me I am saving gas"

Which is funny, because the Cybertruck gets better MPGe than a Prius.

A Prius is still a gas guzzler compared to any EV actually.

Don't act surprised. I mean, you can, but you look stupid. Elon is suggesting running the gov't like his junk businesses. He's a hack billionaire that is only currently successful when the gov't gives him money (Space X, Tesla). He is running X into the ground, allowing literal white supremecists on there, and you're surprised liberal leaning drivers don't like his bullshit "truck"?

I own a 2024 Prius Prime, which is considered to be the first "attractive" model of the car that Toyota has built. While I don't share this sentiment, maybe the new model has given Prius owners a newfound confidence to pass the mockery over looks that used to be reserved for their vehicle on to the Cyber truck due to its polarizing aesthetics. Just a thought.

The cyber truck looks like a dumpster with axles. Y'all need to realize that the looks you're getting are not all politically related. Most of it has to do with seeing a vehicle on the road that should have Waste Management trademarks on it somewhere.
