A recent Reddit post on the r/electric vehicles group reveals that, not surprisingly, politics is on everyone's minds lately―even to the point where one shopper admits finding himself conflicted over buying a Cybertruck because he likes the Cybertruck but is turned off by Elon Musk's political views and involvement in this Presidential Election.
A Good Question Deserving a Good Answer…and It Got Not One But Many
The meat of the Reddit inquiry is the post author asking for advice on how to navigate his dilemma of not wanting to appear to support someone he finds detestable.
Cutting more precisely to the bone, however, his conundrum appears to be that he does not want others to think less of him for buying a vehicle so strongly associated with a single individual. You cannot say "Cybertruck" without an image of Musk popping into your head.
It reminds me of an old quip: the sign of an intellectual is someone who can listen to the William Tell Overture and not think of the Lone Ranger.
Back to the post, however, a good question deserves a good answer, and to my surprise, we see not just a few but many commenters who took the high road and gently advised him that if it is a dilemma for him, there are other trucks out there they feel are equally as good or better than the Cybertruck.
The thread then flowed on with discussions about what other commenters had to say about alternative trucks they found interesting or promising.
For the first time in a long time during this election, I felt there was some good in humanity, after all.
Let Us Know Your Thoughts on The Question
- Do you let your political views or others' political views affect what car or truck model you buy? If so, how?
- Should all Tesla Cybertruck owners be grouped categorically, as we read in so many other social media interest groups?
- What would you like to see change about the love/hate relationship so many car enthusiasts have with the Cybertruck?
In the spirit of goodwill amongst Cybertruck fans and nonfans, here is what I believe to be a reasonable review of the Cybertruck: "The Most Honest Tesla Cybertruck Review You Will Ever Hear."
