Elon Musk: "The Amazing Part Is Being So High On the List Despite Not Using BCG" In Reference to Tesla In 2nd Behind Apple In U.S. Innovative Companies List

Elon Musk made a statement that it was amazing Tesla was so high on the U.S. innovative companies list, despite not using BCG, a consulting group that businesses hire to make recommendations.

Tesla - Second in Innovation In U.S. Companies List

Tesla was recently seen at the top (but not 1st) of the most innovative companies in the U.S., according to BCG (Boston Consulting Group). It boggles my mind that Tesla was not #1 here and here's why.

According to Whole Mars Catalog on X:

In 2023, Tesla laucnched the Cybertruck with steer by wire, 48V, 4680 structural pack, put Dojo into production, developed end to end FSD and a new Optimus design… Apple’s biggest innovation of the year was getting rid of the mute switch. And I say this as a big fan of both

Apple has simply made the camera a little nicer, changed some form factors, but hasn't really innovated that much since Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone back in 2007

Tesla has continued to innovate by making newer and newer vehicles since the original Tesla Roadster that was over $100,000 and now, the Model 3, which is as low as $35,000 in China and the U.S. with incentives.

Then you have Tesla's FSD, Dojo, Tesla Bot, all the new Cybertruck technologies like steer-by-wire, and it is astounding that Tesla isn't #1.

Why Isn't Tesla #1 on the List

Tesla not being #1 on the list is likely a very simple answer. The reason is the list itself is from BCG (Boston Consulting Group). According to James Stephenson on X:

For those asking, BCG stands for Boston Consulting Group, one of the 3 largest outside consulting firms (along with Bain and McKinsey) that businesses hire to make recommendations that anybody could read in a good book on leadership or a Harvard Business Review case study.

That answer makes sense to me and even more so, I can see why Elon Musk was surprised Tesla was #2 on the list considering they did not even use BCG - which I assume means Tesla did not contact or work with BCG on this list in any way.

Elon Musk has other innovative companies, such as SpaceX with its reusable rockets, The Boring Company, which builds tunnels for transportation, and Neuralink, which builds a device for the brain to help those with neurological issues and those who are paralyzed to use their limbs again.

How BCG in any good amount of conscience can rate Tesla #2 behind Apple is beyond me, except that Apple paid them to make it so...

What do you think about this U.S. innovative companies list? Did Apple simply pay BCG to be #1 on the list?

Apple has been the biggest joke of the tech industry for quite sometime now. How they even made it on this list at all blows my mind.
