The Toyota Sienna was by far one of the best minivans our test team at Torque News got to drive. We had a lot of fun testing the different options and features available in the 2022 Toyota Sienna. Our team was left speechless after running tests on the 2022 Toyota Sienna’s infotainment system and how good the UI was.
On one of our many road trips, we decided to use the GPS that came with the car (Platinum model), and while on the highway, we encountered the infamous exit menu. This menu is located on the right side of the screen when you are on the GPS page, and it shows you the different upcoming exits and what restaurants or other facilities are available.
For some, this is pretty helpful. Especially if you are new to the area. We were passing through familiar roads, so it wasn’t that special or useful to us but on the other hand, it was actually very confusing. For first-time drivers like us, we didn’t know if Exit 4A was our exit or 4B or C. The menu displayed many exits, and our true exit was displayed on the top of the screen. It was hard to see and not in our direct line of sight when we looked at the screen.
We didn’t pay much attention to it, and we just thought the everyday Toyota Sienna driver would get used to it. Little did we know, it turns out a lot of 2022 Toyota Sienna owners are sharing their confusion over the exit menu, and they too thought it was their actual exit. Funny story, our team took me to my prom in the 2022 Toyota Sienna to see if it was “party material” and we took two wrong exits because we looked at the exit menu instead of the little icon at the top.
In this article, we want to clear up any confusion by sharing how to turn off the exit menu on the 2022 Toyota Sienna. For some, this isn’t a big deal, but we learned the hard way (being late to prom) that this menu could be misinterpreted by your true upcoming exit.
To get rid of the exit menu on the 2022 Toyota Sienna, tap OPTIONS next to the compass if you have the side menu open, tap MAP MODE and there should be an option to disable the exit preview menu.
I also did some searching on the forums to see if anyone had issues and while some forums were exploding with the disapproval of soccer moms and men who drive vans, one comment on a Facebook group really hit the head on the nail.
Gary Inglish posted the same question on the Toyota Highlander Owners Club and Tom Simms commented saying, “That is a cool feature when on a trip, but annoying when local.” The Sienna and the Highlander share the same GPS software, so it won’t really make a difference.
When our team was test driving the 2022 Toyota Sienna (check out that article), we thought that the menu would be great if we were in uncharted territories. We stuck to rural South Carolina, and it was not much help. Luckily, this will help you to get rid of that confusing menu on your 2022 Toyota Sienna.
What do you think? Was this How-To helpful? Do you like the Exit Menu? Let us know in the comments below.
