Case in point is Land Rover. Autocar has learned from sources that the British automaker is working on a new model that will compete against the likes the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.
Codenamed L560 and is believed to be long-rumored Evoque XL, this new model will slot between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Styling could follow along the same lines as the X6 and GLE Coupe with a sloping roofline and a possible hatchback. Unlike other Land Rover models, the L560 will use the Jaguar F-Pace's aluminum platform. This will allow for a light weight vehicle and excellent handling.
The interior is expected to be more imtimate than what you'll find in the current Range Rover family with seating up to four people and the introduction of new materials.
For power, there will be a range of six and eight-cylinder engines running on either gas or diesel. There is talk of an electric and hybrid powertrain.
Autocar says Land Rover will show off this new model sometime next year..
