The Ford Maverick and its hybrid sibling are certifiable hits. Sales of the small pickups have been steady and both versions of the pickup have picked up a number of awards. Car and Driver just named the 2024 Maverick the top small truck and gave it a perfect ten out of ten score. Earlier, Consumer Reports also named the 2024 Ford Maverick the best small truck and the Maverick Hybrid the best fuel-efficient truck in its 2024 Buying Guide. Now, Ford dealers are being told that there is a refresh for 2025 and we should see it on Thursday, August 1st.
What is Expected for 2025
Some enthusiasts have suggested that Ford will be releasing a sportier version of the truck in 2025. Blogs have captured photos of what appear to be a different looking Maverick, but it is unclear if those are just sportier trim packages or an upgraded model. The powertrains are expected to remain the same. The current turbocharged four-cylinder kicks out 250 horsepower, while the fuel-efficient hybrid has just 191 horsepower. Several twitter users have responded to CEO Jim Farley’s posts asking for a fully electric Maverick or at least a plug-in hybrid truck. Why mess with success?
Strong Sales Numbers for the 2024 Ford Maverick
Ford reported strong sales of the Maverick for the first part of 2024. The hybrid did really well, selling 40,420 vehicles during the first half of the year. The sales numbers show that buyers are interested in getting better mileage, but they still want gas-powered vehicles. The small but mighty Maverick with the gas engine gets an estimated 22-mpg in the city and 29-mpg on the highway. The hybrid version gets an estimated 42-mpg in the city and 33-mpg on the highway. The Maverick comes in several trim levels and starts at $25,515. The fully-loaded Lariat Tremor off-roading truck is supposed to sell for $40,050.
Despite its small size, the Ford Maverick is able to tow. As long as it is equipped with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine and you buy the optional tow package, the Maverick can tow up to 4000 pounds.
We’ll find out Thursday what 2025 holds for the popular Ford Maverick pickup.
