The One 2021 Toyota Tundra You May Not Be Able to Buy

There are some things in life that are just incredibly difficult to find. Some might wonder if they really exist at all.

Think of unicorns. The elusive sasquatch.

Or Indiana Jones. Think about how many people urged him to give up his quest for The Lost Ark and the Holy Grail.

Or Jerry Seinfeld. How many times did The Maestro instruct Jerry to give up his search for a place to rent in Tuscany? “Well, if you’re thinking of getting a house there, don’t bother. There’s really nothing available.” Boasted Maestro.

Guess what, Indy eventually found his prizes. Jerry, too, found a place in Tuscany after all.

And you may find your rare 2021 Toyota Tundra gem as well. Even though it will more than likely not be easy.

2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

You see, a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in Lunar Rock is one of the most challenging to find and purchase vehicles in the country right now.

I know this because I get several emails and comments on my “Toyotajeff” YouTube channel each week asking if I have any leads or suggestions for finding one.

Lunar Rock is, of course, the unique color chosen for 2021 Tundra TRD Pro this year. I cannot call it exclusive, however, as Lunar Rock is also currently a color choice for Toyota RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid vehicles.

The current “State of the Tundra Lunar Rock” is that most dealerships across the country have a waiting list of some sort for anything TRD Pro in Lunar Rock. This includes Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Sequoia.

These are just very difficult to find. Toyota traditionally manufacturers a limited quantity of TRD Pro trucks and SUVs each year. The unique color is always the hardest to track down.

Just look at how tough it was for buyers to find their Army Green 2020 Tundra last year. Or 4Runner. Or Tacoma.

Same story this year.

Suggestions for Buying Toyota Tundra

Here is my best bet for anyone actively researching or hunting for a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Lunar Rock. Act sooner than later.

From my research, it seems most Toyota dealerships are telling customers their wait time will be anywhere from 2-6 months. Many are not promising they will even be able to secure one in time.

In time for what, though?

Well, the beginning of the year is generally when manufacturers start to finalize their 2021 orders in preparation for new 2022 models making their way for retail sale.

Since you will probably have a long wait time, I suggest you visit your local dealers and get your name put on their wait list if you feel comfortable doing so.

I recommend you work with the dealership that is kind and friendly and sympathetic to your search. They should not be pushy or arrogant or appear in a position of power.

Work with someone who will be a partner with you in your 2021 Tundra hunt. A dealer who assures you they will provide regular communication to update you on your order status. Even if there is not yet news to report.

Just a kind “check-in” to let you know they have not forgotten about you – that they appreciate your business.

You could also try for another color you enjoy as well – like Super White, Midnight Black Metallic or Magnetic Gray Metallic. The wait times for these could be shorter.
