Two-door variant of next-generation 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor will be eliminated. SuperCrew Raptor only option listed in leaked information. Redesigned four-door Raptor will have four doors only, new suspension and perhaps a V8 too.
More information continues to trickle in regarding the next-generation 2021 F-150. I’ve written extensively on what know and what we suspect regarding the 14th-generation Ford F-150.
Some of this information and speculation surrounds the next-gen Ford Raptor too. In fact, I wrote recently about a new suspension system coming to the Raptor, along with new colors and also wondering if Ford will bring a V8 engine to the Raptor family.
One thing we now know is the that two-door SuperCab configuration will be retired. Multiple outlets reported that, and leaked VIN codes that hit the internet confirm that too. The 2021 Ford Raptor will be available as a four-door SuperCrew only.
In addition to the elimination of the two-door SuperCab, you can expect a total redesign of the high-performance Raptor, just as the entire F-150 line gets a redesign. However, while we expect to see the new 2021 Ford F-150 pickups this year, I would not expect to see the 2021 Raptor that quickly.
With all the production concerns with Ford right now, many products seem like they will be delayed. We already know the Ford Bronco Sport is now delayed. So that likely pushes the production and release of the Raptor down the line further.
The 2021 Raptor will have a new suspension system that should revolutionize how it performs. Ford will put a new five-link rear suspension, replacing the current leaf spring suspension.
The benefit of this suspension include better ground clearance and significantly better articulation, for off-road performance and climbing over rocky terrains. It should also make the 2021 Raptor have a smoother ride.
On the same leaked VIN codes, there was something notoriously not listed. The current Raptor has a high-output 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. It was not listed as an engine option for the next generation F-150.
This does not necessarily mean that it won’t be part of the next-gen Raptor, but it was a curious omission that led many of us to wonder if a V8 engine was coming for the Raptor. Nobody at Ford would comment one way or another regarding this.
With Ram developing a Raptor rival in the Rebel TRX (which also doesn't appear to have a two-door variant), it would make sense for Ford be ready with a V8 engine to rival that truck, which will surely have a V8. The current high-output engine for the Raptor makes 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. Those are good numbers and the current generation Raptor is my all-time favorite truck, but still, if Ram is raising the bar, then Ford must also try to keep up.
Could Ford power up the 2021 Raptor with some kind of hybrid technology? I wrote yesterday about how the 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid will not be a plug-in but simply a standard hybrid, with likely more power and performance. Could Ford put such an engine, with performance modifications into it and offer a hybrid version of the Raptor? That is possible. But of course that’s nothing more than speculation and totally unconfirmed.
What is clear is that the Raptor will have new looks, which include the elimination of the SuperCab. Personally I’m okay with that. I know there are two-door truck fans out there, but I never much understood (outside of work trucks) why someone would want two doors and a smaller cab instead of a four-door bigger cab.
Getting rid of the SuperCab for the 2021 Raptor makes good financial sense for Ford. Will this deter you from buying one? Were you a fan of the SuperCab? Leave me a comment and let me know.

I like the Supercab, it is
I like the Supercab, it is about $4000.00 cheaper than the Crewcab. I like the look of it compared to the Crewcab. And it lighter than the Crewcab. I hope Ford does not cheat us out of the Supercab Raptor. It would be quicker with a V8.
I know this is a little late
I know this is a little late for a comment. But as to the comment you made about the 4 door versus the supercab "2 door," the shorter wheel base appeals to many for off road as it utilizes the same 5.5' bed as the supercrew. Sad to see it go, but stoked for a possible v8 (predator) in the next gen!
In the desert & sand dunes, a
In the desert & sand dunes, a shorter wheelbase makes huge difference. The raptor scab is the way to go for me as it is shorter for desert offroading & can still use it for my family with the rear seats. Noway to go for the screw as it is way too long. Hope Ford never stops it
I have a 2010 Raptor super
I have a 2010 Raptor super cab. If it's only going to come in four doors I'll never have another one.
It's called having a longer
It's called having a longer bed. That is why super cabs are great!!
I have a 2018 Magnetic Raptor
I have a 2018 Magnetic Raptor super cab. I have one of the first 2010 6.2s, the a 2012 and the a 2014 Roush raptor, all super cabs. If Ford builds a 2021, especially with the supercharged V8, I’ll buy one. If they drop the super cab they have lost me forever as a customer. Proportionally the super cab is a much better looking truck.
I have a 2019 supercab raptor
I have a 2019 supercab raptor. The truck looks so much better in the supercab form. It dosent feel as heavy and is very nimble for a truck. My needs don’t require a crew cab.
I have a 2010 Ford SVT Raptor
I have a 2010 Ford SVT Raptor. When I heard the next generation only came with the twin turbo v6 that turned me off. Now they're going to offer a V8 however they are only going to have the four-door model. I just don't like the looks of it . I just don't. I was considering the Dodge however as you said in your article it's only available in a four-door so I guess I'll keep this 2010 Raptor as long as I can.
BOOO! No Supercab, no
BOOO! No Supercab, no purchase! I will look for a 2nd Gen and pass on this one. I like the 2nd Gen interior better as well.
It's going to be hard I'm
It's going to be hard I'm afraid to try to find a super cab. it's probably going to be harder to find one that hasn't been trashed.
Can't believe Ford is
Can't believe Ford is dropping the 2 door supercab version on the Raptor. What the hell are they thinking -- or -- are they even thinking at all ? Have they ever tried to put 6 gallons in a 5 gallon bucket ?? Is Ford more concerned with hauling Aunt Ora and Uncle Fred in the rear seat in luxurious comfort down the Interstate Highway at 80 MPH or building a super sport utility truck with a usable sized truck bed ? They already offer back seat luxury in the regular F150 -- the quietest and most comfortable truck in the industry!! They are going to cut off their noses to spite their production cost concerns by only offering a 4 door cab Raptor. Some of us have things to carry that require a longer bed. I guess we don't count.
Oh well, there's always GMC and Chevy to build my mid sized truck -- not real performance minded, but more practical for me and many others. If I'm going to have to pay an artificially pumped up and bloated price for a performance pickup truck, then I reserve the right to have the ability to request or require the size of bed and cab that want. If Ford Motor Company is going to continue to build the Raptor and charge the inflated, bloated prices born of complete disregard of their faithful customers, then the least they could do is offer said customers the choice of bed and cab size. Some people don't care, but, some of us DO !! Thanks for this forum and the opportunity to vent. {:ol
It was the worst selling
It was the worst selling configuration on a niche truck. It makes no financial sense to put a less popular option for a vehicle that isn't a big seller anyway.
